The launch of the Nautilus in 1976 was the begin-
ning of an unprecedented success story. The first
model still ranks among the most coveted timepieces
at auctions to this very day. Its stainless steel case
with the spectacular porthole design, the octagonal
bezel with rounded corners, and its rugged depend-
ability defined new benchmarks in casual elegance,
elevating the watch to the status of a style icon. Little
changed during the forty years that followed, except
that the collection was subtly reworked in 2006 for
enhanced comfort and readability without affect-
ing its unique personality. At the same time, the
self-winding Nautilus chronograph was introduced
as a welcome enrichment of the model family. Now,
Patek Philippe has endowed the flyback chronograph
with a further complication, which presents the time
with a day/night indication for two time zones at
a single glance. The two pushers with which local
time can be adjusted bidirectionally in one-hour
increments are so consummately integrated in the
case that the original silhouette of the Nautilus with
the two lateral bulges is fully preserved. Water-
resistant to 120 meters, the Nautilus Travel Time
Chronograph is powered by the self-winding caliber
CH 28-520 C FUS movement. With its column-wheel
architecture and the patented Spiromax
®
balance
spring, it pairs venerable watchmaking traditions
with innovation in an exemplary manner.
