Q. How do I download the latest versions of Drobo Dashboard and
Drobo FS Firmware?
A. To download the latest versions of software, click Advanced Controls
-> Tools -> Check For Updates... You can check our website for the
latest versions: www.drobo.com/support/updates.
Note: You must have administrator privileges on your computer in order to
install the upgrade for Drobo Dashboard.
Q. How do I add capacity to my Drobo FS?
A. You can either add a standard 3.5" SATA hard drive to an empty Data
Bay or replace the smallest capacity drive with a larger capacity
drive. It's okay to do this while Drobo FS is running; you do not need
to shut it down.
Q. How can I tell how much capacity Drobo FS has left?
A. The main page of Drobo Dashboard provides the most accurate
information. (See page 9.) You can get an approximate idea by simply
checking the blue capacity gauge on the front of Drobo FS. Each blue
light represents 10% of available capacity that contains protected
data. If you observe three blue lights, you have approximately 70%
still available for data.
Q. Will my computer tell me how much space is used on Drobo FS?
A. Yes, actual space used and available space are represented
accurately by your operating system.
Q. Can I connect my Drobo FS directly to a computer?
A. The only reasons you should ever have to direct-connect your
Drobo FS to your computer is when you do not have DHCP on your
network and have to assign a static IP address during setup or if a
change on the network (e.g., changing routers) requires a change to
the network settings. If either of these situations applies to you,
please keep the following in mind:
