automatically goes into a power saving mode (spins down the hard
drives) when it has not been accessed for 15 minutes (default) or the
time you chose earlier.
Note: Drobo FS allows you to modify the time intervals for disk drive spin down.
See page 13 for details.
After you have set up shares on your Drobo FS, you can access the
shares in either of the following ways:
We recommend installing Drobo Dashboard on all computers that will
be accessing your Drobo FS. This is the easiest way to mount shares on
those computers. The shares are listed on the main Drobo Dashboard
page. By clicking in the "Mount" check box next to the share name, you
can mount the network drive on your computer. Drobo Dashboard will
automatically mount the selected shares every time you restart your
computer so that they are always available to you when you are
connected to the network. If the share is protected, you must first log
in using your username and password (both case-sensitive) before you
can click on the mount checkbox. You can install Drobo Dashboard from
the Resource CD that came with your Drobo FS or you can download the
latest version at: www.drobo.com/support/updates.
Once Drobo FS is set up, you can access the shares just as you would
any normal network drive or volume:
Windows XP
1. Open My Computer.
2. Click "My Network Places."
3. Click "Add a network place" (This opens the Add Network Places
wizard.)
4. Click Next.
5. Click "Choose another network location."
6. You can click the Browse button and locate the share you want
to access; or
you can manually enter the share name: \\drobo-fs\sharename
(Note: replace "drobo-fs" and "sharename" with the names you
chose for your Drobo FS.)
