First-time Operation
7 The message [Do you want to save the changes?] will be displayed. Select [Yes].
8 The message [Disks were updated successfully] will be displayed. Select [OK].
9 Select [My Computer].
10 Click [D:] (or the drive letter of a newly created drive) with the right button
and select [Format].
11 At [Format D:\], select [NTFS] for [File System] and select [Start].
12 When the operation completes, be sure to select [Start] - [Shut Down] and restart the
computer before using the second hard disk.
Removal and Installation from the Second-time On
Refer to the method described in the "Reference Manual" (
Windows 98
If the second hard disk drive pack is installed with the computer on (using the BaySwap
function), the performance of the second hard disk may be affected. Therefore, we recom-

mend installation with the computer off, even for installation from the second time on.
When changing the partition (after First-time Operation)
CAUTION
When changing the partition, the contents of a hard disk drive are completely erased.
Windows 2000
The partition can be changed in [Start] - [Settings] - [Control Panel] - [Administrative
Tools] - [Computer Management] - [Storage] - [Disk Management].
Windows XP
The partition can be changed in [Start] - [Control Panel] - [Performance and Maintenance]
- [Administrative Tools] - [Computer Management] - [Storage] - [Disk Management].
Windows 98
Run FDISK to change the partition.
Windows NT
The partition can be changed in [Start] - [Programs] - [Administrative Tools (Common)]-
[Disk Administrator].
