Treat yourself to the most deliciously colorful cookies this side of Grandma's kitchen! This mini-
baker's collection is made for active play: use the spatula to scoop the brightly iced letter cookies off
the baking sheet while strengthening fine motor skills, and identifying letters and colors. Indulge in
the following playful learning activities to make your child the brainiest baker on the block!
Activities:
ABC Sing-along—Complete the puzzle by matching the letter cookies to the corresponding spaces
in the baking sheet. Then, sing the alphabet song while tapping the letters, one after the other.
Short Order—Start with all the letters in the baking sheet. Call out a letter; have the child find that
letter and lift it from the sheet using the spatula.
Trace Away—Place any letter on the table. Then, have the child trace the letter with an index finger
while repeating the letter name.
Fast Fit—Choose three different letters and place them on the table. Challenge the child to scoop
and match these letters to the corresponding spaces in the baking sheet as fast as possible. Ready?
Go! Call out one of the letters for the child to quickly scoop and match while naming it aloud.
On the Fly!—Call out random letters for the child to "serve up" on the spatula and bring to you.
Got Your Number—Name a number and have the child scoop up that many cookies, one at a time.
Treat Thief—Place any three letters on the table. Point to and name each letter. Have the child close
his or her eyes while you take away one of the letters. Ask, "Which letter is missing?"
Order Up!—Give your little "baker" clues for finding a specific letter: made of straight lines, found on
the second row of the baking sheet, composed of one long curve, and so on.
What Comes Next?—Choose four letters in sequential order (such as H, I, J, K) and place them in the
puzzle. Ask the child which letter comes next, and to place that letter in the puzzle. For a challenge,
start with the letters on the table rather than on the sheet, to really test the child's memory. Sing the
alphabet song to provide further guidance.
