Have children unfold the minute chain with the number line
side facing up. Place the blue minute hand under the 0. First,
have children get to know the number line by moving the hand
and skip counting by 5's. Then, place the hand under a random
minute mark and have children identify the minute. Encourage
children to use the closest fi ve to fi nd the answer. Continue this
until children grasp the concept.
