6 Installation Requirements

5 Technical Description

SC 1 are analog scanners for series 730, 730 - LO, 740, 740 - LO, KMGA 740 and KMGA 740 - LO pyrometers.
The scanner may be used to scan temperatures in a line, instead of only one fixed target point. Typical scanner
applications are measuring of thin oscillating wires or moving sheets and capturing the maximum temperature
of bulk material or scaled metals.
The scanners are available with four different scanning angles: 6.2 . . . 9.5 °, 8 . . . 13 °, 20 . . . 28 ° and 23
. . . 34 ° (adjustable).
6 Installation Requirements
CAUTION:
Measurement errors and damage to the scanner through
• Ambient temperatures too high
• Strong contamination of the optics due to dust, smoke, steam or other causes like air pollution
• Electromagnetic interference sources
You must take into account the following climatic conditions and the requirements of the place of use
of the scanner!
The following requirements must be fulfilled with respect to the climatic conditions at the place of use of the
scanner:
• Temperature range 0 °C to +70 °C
• Maximum air humidity: 60 % at room temperature
• Atmosphere free of dust, corrosive vapors and fume gases
Take into account the following requirements at the place of use of the scanner:
• Take care with the choice of the place of use and take into account the ergonomic and the legal guidelines
for industrial safety in order to ensure safe operation of the scanner.
• Set up the scanner on a firm, stable base. The base must be free from concussion and vibration.
• Do not expose the system to direct sunlight or radiation from heating (e.g. radiators).
• Do not set the scanner near strong electromagnetic fields or near electromagnetic interference sources.
• Make sure that the pilot light from the used pyrometer falls unhindered on the object being measured and
that there is nothing in the path of the rays.
