Safety Information

GB
Read these operating in-
structions carefully and fully
before you operate the
measuring instrument. Al-
ways pay special attention to
the WARNING NOTES, be-
cause these indicate poten-
tially dangerous processes.
Obey these warning notes at
all times
Before taking any meas-
y
urements, read the safety
information section. Al-
ways examine the instru-
ment for damage, contam-
ination (excessive dirt,
grease, etc.) and defects.
Examine the test leads for
cracked or frayed insula-
tion. If any abnormal con-
ditions exist do not at-
tempt to make any meas-
urements.
The following safety infor-
y
mation must be observed
to insure maximum per-
sonal safety during the op-
eration of this meter:
Always inspect your meter,
y
test leads and accessories
for any sign of damage or
abnormality before every
use. If any abnormal con-
ditions exist (eg-broken
test leads, cracked cases,
display not reading, etc.),
do not attempt to take any
measurements.
Do not expose the instru-
y
ment to direct sunlight, ex-
treme temperature or
moisture.
Never touch exposed
y
wiring, connections or any
live circuit when attempt-
ing to take measurements.
Do not attempt to operate
y
this instrument in an ex-
plosive atmosphere (i.e. in
the presence of flammable
gases or fumes, vapours
or dust).
When testing for the pres-
y
ence of voltage, make sure
the voltage function is op-
erating properly by reading
a known voltage in that
function before assuming
that a zero reading indi-
cates a no-voltage condi-
tion.
Always test your meter be-
y
fore and after taking meas-
urements on a known live
circuit.
Do not operate with open-
y
ing the meter or battery
cover.
Never ground yourself
y
when taking electrical
measurements. Do not
touch exposed metal
pipes, outlets, fixtures,
etc., which might be at
ground potential. Keep
your body isolated from
ground by using dry cloth-
ing, rubber shoes, rubber
mats, or any approved in-
sulating material.
Turn off power to the cir-
y
cuit under test before cut-
ting, unsoldering, or break-
ing the circuit. Small
amounts of current can be
dangerous.
Use caution when working
y
above 40V dc or 20V ac
rms. Such voltages pose a
shock hazard.
When Using the probes,
y
keep your fingers behind
the finger guards on the
probes.
Measuring voltages that
y
exceed the limits of the
multimeter may damage
the meter and expose the
operator to a shock haz-
ard. Always recognize the
meter voltage limits as
stated on the front of the
meter.
