Games supporting the ACT LABS GS as a full-featured system
will enable you to select the GS from their preferences or
options menu. In games with full ACT LABS GS support, you
can use one or two guns or one gun and the handheld,
depending on the game. Consult the game documentation for
details.

Problem: Windows shows ACT LABS GS as "not connected"
Solution: Check all connections, especially to the gameport.
Make sure the ACT LABS GS is powered on. Make sure there
are no other devices listed in the windows "Game Controllers"
applet and that the ACT LABS GS is controller ID#1 (under
"Advanced" in the Game Controllers applet).
Problem: Image on monitor is very dark and/or looks strange.
Solution: Make sure there is power to the ACT LABS GS, or
disconnect the ACT LABS GS from your PC if you do not plan
to use it for an extended period.
Problem: Poor shooting accuracy
Solution: Make sure both guns of the ACT LABS GS have been
calibrated to the particular screen resolution/refresh rate
combination. If this still does not help, reduce the refresh rate.
The ACT LABS GS functions best at vertical refresh rates at or
under 100Hz, though this depends on the video hardware and
resolution. You may also have good results at higher refresh
rates.
Problem: Very short operating range
Solution: The ACT LABS GS is designed to work at normal,
indoor artificial-light levels. Make sure there are no bright
reflections on the screen or bright light sources shining at the
Gun Unit's lens. Avoid playing near windows where there is a
lot of sunlight. Range is also affected by the brightness of the
monitor - the brighter the monitor, the better the range.
Problem: Mouse pointer goes crazy, cannot turn off mouse
emulation mode for handheld.
Solution: Go to the ACT LABS GS Driver applet and de-select
"Mouse Emulation" for the handheld. Re-calibrate the
handheld unit for that screen resolution/refresh rate.
