Materials that you can use in a microwave oven
Utensils Notes
Aluminium foil Only for protection� Small pieces can be
used to cover small bits of meat or poultry to
prevent them from overcooking� Sparks may
be produced if the foil is placed too close to
the walls� The foil must be placed at least
2�5cm (1 inch) from the internal walls of the
oven�
Gratin dish Follow the manufacturer's instructions� The
bottom of the dish must be positioned at
least 5 mm above the turntable� Incorrect use
may lead to the turntable breaking�
Crockery Exclusively those that are microwave
compatible� Follow the manufacturer's
instructions� Do not use cracked or chipped

containers�
Glass jugs Always remove the lid� Use them only to
reheat food at low temperatures� Most glass
jugs are not resistant to high temperatures
and may break�
Glass containers Only thermo-resistant glass utensils
designed to be used in ovens� Check that they
do not have any metal decoration� Do not use
cracked or chipped containers�

Oven cooking Follow the manufacturer's instructions� Do
bags not close them using a metallic clip� Make
several incisions to allow steam to escape�
Paper plates and Only for cooking/reheating over a short
cups duration� Do not leave the oven unattended
during use�
Paper serviettes Used to cover food for reheating and to
absorb the fat� Only for the short cooking
under constant supervision�
Greaseproof To cover the food to avoid splashing or for
paper coating it and steam-cooking�
Plastic Exclusively those that are microwave
compatible� Follow the manufacturer's
instructions� They must bear the mention
"Suitable for microwave ovens"� Some plastic
containers soften when the food inside them
becomes hot� Slit, pierce or partially open
the "cooking bags" and the hermetically
sealed plastic bags in accordance with the
indications on their packaging�
Cling film Exclusively those that are microwave
compatible� Use this to cover the food during
cooking in order to retain moisture� Ensure
the cling film is not touching the food�
