hoses easier. To attach, simply push the hose into the fitting until it engages. To
detach, press down the ring at the end of the fitting, pulling the hose out at the
same time.
The supply pipe is supplied loose with the unit. The concentrate hose and the
permeate hose are already fitted to prevent confusion.
Using the connector fitting (1), first attach the supply pipe to a suitable water tap.
Then connect the supply pipe with the free pipe fitting to the activated carbon filter (6).
3. First place the red hose of the concentrate outlet (7) and the blue hose of the
permeate outlet (8) in the drain (washbasin or similar). Carefully open the tap. The
water now runs into the reverse osmosis system. Now check that all the screw
fittings of the system are watertight and, if necessary, tighten by hand (!!). All
threads are self-sealing. If, despite these measures, there is still some leakage, the
thread can be sealed with Teflon tape. The tap can now be opened fully.
Now let the system run for at least 2 hours so that the preserving agents are washed
out of the membrane. After this time the red hose is left in the drain and the blue hose
is fed into a suitable container to take up the permeate (pure water).
The concentrate (waste water) from the red hose can, if wished, be collected and used
to flush the toilet or as cleaning water.
Putting out of operation
Simply close the tap. The system should not be left idle for periods of longer than 10-
14 days, if possible.
If the system has to be switched off for a longer time (e.g. during holidays etc.), the
permeate should be fed into the drain for the first half hour of operation in order to
rinse out any accumulation of bacteria. Afterwards the permeate can run into the
collection container again.
IMPORTANT!
The system is designed to operate with mains water which conforms to European
standards. Other water (e.g. well water) containing over 0.1-0.5 mg/l iron and
/or manganese, will quickly cause the membrane to become blocked by iron or
manganese deposits.
Maintenance
JBL Osmosis 120 is practically maintenance-free. Depending on the sediment levels
in the untreated water, the pre-filter may need to be changed from time to time.
Changing the pre-filters (sediment filter, carbon filter)
The pre-filter (sediment and carbon) should be changed about once or twice a year,
depending on water quality. A clear reduction in flow capacity indicates a blocked pre-
filter. To check, undo the hose connection between the pre-filter and the membrane
casing by pulling off the hose from the fitting in the lid of the membrane casing. Now
open the tap and let the water pour out. If the capacity is 1l per minute or less, the
pre-filter should be changed:
Close the tap, pull the hoses off the filter element to be changed and remove this from
the holding clips. Now completely remove the hose fittings from this filter element and
