Take the appliance out of the packaging.
Clean the appliance thoroughly to remove any manufacturing residues (see
"Cleaning and maintenance").
When using for the first time, turn on the appliance without placing the wok pans
on the hotplate. Allow the appliance to become hot under constant supervision, for
10 minutes. A little smoke may be emitted and you may smell a slight odour. This
is not harmful to humans and will not last long. Small birds may find the odours
produced by the hotplate distressing; Therefore, keep birds away from the
appliance the first time you use it.
