Tip: While it cannot create them on its own, the MPC500 can play Patched Phrases from the MPC2500 and 1000. In a Patched Phrase, the
phrase sample can follow the tempo of the sequence when it is changed.

Saving the Data

The data and audio that you input into the MPC500 will be deleted when you turn off the unit, unless you save it. If you wish to keep the
data, proceed as described in the "Save / Load" section (page 149) or the "Connecting the MPC500 to your computer" (page 167) of the
Operator's Manual.

Turning Off the Autoload Function

The MPC500 is designed like the other MPC series samplers. However, the MPC500 is set to automatically load the preset file when
you switch on the unit, so that you can start playing with the pads immediately. You can also turn this feature off, if you would like the
MPC500 not to load the preset file. In this case, when you turn on the unit you have to manually load or record samples on the MPC500.
1.
Press the [MODE] button and then [PAD 2] (LOAD).
2.
In the Load field, scroll with the [DATA] wheel to select Autoload
3.
Select OFF in the Parameter field.
4.
Turn off the MPC500 and then turn it on again.
This will disable the Autoload function.

Other Useful Functions

The MPC500 has many exciting and clever functions for music creation.
Effects with syncing to the tempo of the sequence
The MPC500 has two stereo effects and one master effect. In the Effect types, some parameters in Flying Pan / Delay can be synced to the tempo
of the sequence. Also the LFO in the program can be synced to the tempo of the sequence.
See "Chapter13: Effects" section of the Operator's Manual. (page 131)

Q-Link slider

With the Q-Link slider you can control pad parameters, such as filter, tune and others.
See "Chapter 8: Q-Link Slider" section of the Operator's Manual. (page 93)
This manual only describes the basic operation of the MPC500. The MPC500 has a lot more features for your music creation. Please read the
operator's manual to learn the operation and functions of the MPC500.
Have fun with the MPC500!
