Das Einschaltstrombegrenzungsmodul PM-SCL dient
zum Schutz von elektromechanischen Schaltkontak-
ten (z. B. Relaiskontakte) vor Verschleiß durch kapazi-
tive Schaltlasten in einem Gleichspannungskreis. Der
Kontaktschutz wird durch eine Begrenzung des Ein-
schaltstroms erreicht. Zusätzlich ist eine austausch-
bare Schmelzsicherung für den Kurzschlussschutz
der Schaltkontakte nach EN 60947-5-1 integriert.
Das PM-SCL ist nicht für den Einsatz in Wechselspan-
nungskreisen geeignet. Es bietet keinen Schutz vor
Überspannung und darf nicht als Leitungsüberstrom-
schutz nach EN 60269-1 eingesetzt werden.
Funktion
Durch das Schalten von kapazitiven Lasten entstehen
zum Einschaltzeitpunkt sehr hohe Ströme, die bei
elektromechanischen Schaltkontakten zu erhöhtem
Verschleiß führen. Das PM-SCL-Modul begrenzt den
Einschaltstrom für ca. 120 ms und schützt so die
Schaltkontakte.

Der Anschluss darf nur durch Fachpersonal erfol-

gen, welches mit den gültigen Bestimmungen für
EMV vertraut ist.
Beachten Sie die Hinweise zum Anschluss in der

Betriebsanleitung der angeschlossenen Geräte.
Montage
Das Gerät muss in einen Schaltschrank eingebaut
f
werden, der mindestens die Schutzart IP54 erfüllt.
Die Montage erfolgt auf einer Tragschiene (siehe
Bild 1).
Elektrischer Anschluss
WARNUNG
Der elektrische Anschluss muss in spannungsfrei-
f
em Zustand durchgeführt werden.
Alle elektrischen Anschlüsse müssen entwe-
f
der durch Sicherheitstransformatoren nach
EN/IEC 61558-2-6 mit Begrenzung der Ausgangs-
spannung im Fehlerfall oder durch gleichwertige
Isolationsmaßnahmen vom Netz isoliert werden.

Wartung und Kontrolle
Wartungsarbeiten sind nicht erforderlich. Um eine ein-
wandfreie und dauerhafte Funktion zu gewährleisten,
sind regelmäßige Kontrollen erforderlich auf:

Wichtig!
Bei Beschädigung oder Verschleiß muss das
PM-SCL-Modul komplett ausgetauscht werden.
Beim Einsatz in Sicherheitsschaltkreisen sollte eine
regelmäßige Funktionsprüfung des Systems als Teil
des Inspektionsprogramms durchgeführt werden.
Correct use

The inrush current limiting module PM-SCL is used to
protect electro-mechanical switching contacts (e.g.
relay contacts) against wear due to capacitive switch-
ing loads in a DC circuit. The contacts are protected
by limiting the inrush current. In addition, a replaceable
fuse is integrated for protecting the contacts against
short circuits according to EN 60947-5-1.
The PM-SCL is not suitable for use in AC circuits. It
does not provide any protection against overvoltage
and is not allowed to be used for cable overcurrent
protection according to EN 60269-1.
Function
Very high currents are produced on power up if
capacitive loads are switched; these currents cause
increased wear on electromagnetic switching con-
tacts. The PM-SCL module limits the inrush current for
approx. 120 ms and protects the switching contacts.
Safety precautions
WARNING
Depending on the application, the incorrect con-
nection of the module may place people at risk or
cause damage to the devices connected.
Prior to use, read the operating instructions

carefully.
The module is only allowed to be connected by
f
personnel who are familiar with the applicable
stipulations on EMC.
Pay attention to the instructions on making the
f
connections in the operating instructions for the
devices connected.
Mounting
The device must be installed in a control cabinet
f
that complies with degree of protection IP54 as a
minimum.
The module is mounted on a rail (see Figure 1).
Electrical connection
WARNING
The electrical connection must be made with the
f
device and wiring isolated.
All the electrical connections must either be
f
isolated from the mains supply by a safety trans-
former according EN/IEC 61558-2-6 with limited
output voltage in the event of a fault, or by other
equivalent isolation measures.

Service and inspection
No servicing is required. In order to ensure lasting,
trouble-free operation, regular inspection of the
following is required:

Important!
If damaged or worn, the PM-SCL module must be
replaced as a unit.
On use in safety circuits, the system should be
subjected to a regular function test as part of the
inspection program.
