IMPORTANT SAFETY REGULATIONS
NEWA Kanist is an external filter for aquariums with fresh and salt water intended for use in residential accommodations only.
Any other application is not suitable, and therefore the manufacturer shall not be responsible for it.
NEWA Kanist complies with the safety regulations effective in the UN (EN 60335-2-41).
ATTENTION: to avoid any accident involving injuries, besides the ordinary safety rules, one must observe the following safety
precautions:
ATTENTION: This symbol, applied to the product label, indicates that it is necessary to carefully
read this operations manual prior to the start, use and service of the device.
1. CAUTION: This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with
reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been
given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the
hazards involved. Children shall not play with the appliance because this is not a toy. Cleaning and user
maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.
2. ATTENTION: disconnect all electrical appliances in the aquarium before carrying out installation and
maintenance operations. In case of moisture ingress to the plug or electrical socket, break the network
main switch, prior to disconnection of the supply cable.
3. The electrical cord cannot be either repaired or replaced. If it is damaged, replace the entire unit.
4. Make sure that the voltage on the device label corresponds with the network voltage.
5. Prior to the connection to electrical power network, make sure that there is no damage of the device and the corresponding
cable.
6. The device supply cable must be properly bent downwards (DRIP LOOP, fig. 2), to avoid water running over the cable and
ingress into the corresponding socket.
7. It is recommended to initially protect the device, as well as all other electrical appliances, with the aid of a special differential
switch (protective cutout device) with maximum permissible interrupting current 30 mA (residual current Idn ≤ 30 mA).
8. It is prohibited to lift the device holding it at the supply cable during the installation and use of the device.
9. Before to start the device, make sure that it is installed properly.

10. The device must not operate in the idle mode.
11. It is prohibited to use the device with aggressive and abrasive fluids.
12. Maximum temperature of the fluid pumped through must not exceed 35° C.
13. ATTENTION: this symbol
means that the devices may be used inside the residential accommodations only.
14. ATTENTION: do not use the filter, when it is immersed into water. If it falls accidentally, disconnect the plug from the
electrical socket before removing the filter from water. Observe the same precautions in case of moisture ingress to the external
parts of the device.

OPERATION
NEWA Kanist ensures healthy aqueous environment due to the powerful and efficient filtration system with various options,
provided for achievement of maximum result of mechanical, chemical and biological filtration. Just after the activation, the
water is extracted from the aquarium through the suction pipe and fed into the NEWA Kanist, filter where a great number of
filtering materials treat any visible and invisible contaminating agents due to 6 stages of filtration:
