3 Notes and Installation
The following symbols are used in these instructions:

Intended Use
§ The pit frame edges are suitable for pit installation in dry and
wet areas. For installation in wet areas or outdoors, stainless
steel pit frame edges are required.
Important Note:
Sartorius shall not be liable for any erroneous measurements
made when calculating the pit dimensions, nor for defective
installation of the pit frame edges.
Warnings and Safety Precautions
§ Make sure all applicable safety regulations and accident
prevention regulations are observed during installation.
To prevent personal injury when using a crane or forklift for
transport or installation of the weighing platform, do not stand
or walk under the suspended platform.
§ Protective shoes and clothing (such as gloves) must be worn.
This work must be carried out by authorized and properly
trained personnel.
§ When installing the weighing platform in the pit and connecting
it to the indicator or display and control unit, make sure all
warnings and safety precautions in the operating instructions for
the indicator/display and control unit are observed.

Notes on Installation
§ Depending on the dimensions of your pit frame edges, you
might require help from one or two people when lowering the
assembled edges into the pit.
§ The assembled steel or stainless steel pit frame edges must be
installed so that they line the pit perimeter. The pit frame edges
must be level (check with a spirit level) and flush with the floor
surface.
Check the angles to make sure they are square.
Make sure there is a gap around the entire perimeter between
the pit wall and the weighing platform.
Force bypass, caused for example by an object wedged or caught
between the pit wall and the weighing platform, will distort the
weighing results.
§ When the pit frame edges are installed in a wet area, the pit
must have a slope of 3 to 5% leading to a drainage duct.
The flow of liquid into the drainage duct must be unimpeded at
all times.
§ Set up the weighing platform on the concrete supports in the
four corners of the foundation and adjust it using a spirit level.
§ Remove the level indicator before lowering the platform into the
pit.
§ Install the cable for the indicator/display and control unit in
a protective conduit (DN > 25; NPS > 1) on a slant.
§ Make sure the cable length outside the pit is protected
(e.g., in a cable channel).
Install the cable so that it cannot cause stumbling.
§ Once pit installation has been completed, install the
indicator/display and control unit, including electrical connec-
tions and menu settings, as described in the scale operating
instructions.
