AVM™2
INTRODUCTION
AVM™2 (Automatic Vacuum Management) is a control unit for vacuum ejectors. This manual is specific for
AVM™2 but it also shows the interfaces to the ejector platforms in Piab's product range where AVM™2 may
be used. For more detailed information on the vacuum ejector, please see the manuals for the respective
ejectors.
FUNCTIONS/FEATURES

Valve (V1) for ON/OFF of the ejector. This valve is normally open (NO) or normally closed (NC). Special
function: the normally closed (NC) valve behaves as normally open (NO) if the power is turned off, i.e., the
ejector continues operating.

Valve (V1) for ON/OFF is also available as a NC 2 version. The NC 2 valve behaves like a NC (Normally
Closed) even if power to AVM™2 is turned off.

Valve (V2) for ON/OFF of the blow-off function.

Option for valve (V2) - automatic blow-off (1 sec), activated immediately after valve (V1) has changed
position.

Adjustment valve (V3) for controlling the blow-off flow.

Integrated automatic energy-saving function (ES) used to minimize the air consumption. This function can
be activated manually or by a signal.

Vacuum switch that sends two digital output signals, S1 and S2. Selection of signal level is done with a
rotary switch, and there are 16 preset signal levels available.

LEDs that show the status of valves and vacuum signals.

LED display that shows the current vacuum level in -kPa or -inHg in the normal position.

On AVM™2 units for P6010, there is an option to blow from a separate port to maximize blow-off
efficiency in the vacuum system.

Integrated non-return valve. Maintains vacuum in the system in case of compressed air or electricity
failure.
DESIGN

Modular in two separate main sections, one electronic unit and one valve unit.

Design that maximizes the blow-off efficiency.

Protective covers against dust and humidity, IP65 [NEMA 4].

Compact and slim design.

M12 8-pin electric connection. Suitable cables are available as accessories.

Simple setting of desired signal levels for vacuum via a rotary switch. S2 is always the deeper vacuum
level as compared to S1.

PNP or NPN is selectable via contacts pins.
