Milling
The degree of fineness of the grains to be milled can be continuously regulated between "fine" and
"coarse" with the help of the sliding button situated on the right-hand side of the mill.
The adjustment handle of the milling wheels can easily be realized while milling.
When the motor stands still and grains have been filled into the funnel (if button on funnel is not pushed in)
the adjustment from coarse to fine is not allowed.
Only when milling wheat you should select finest possible adjustment. Please select a more coarse setting
when milling rye, spelt, oat, etc.
If the motor does not start immediately when milling owing to an under voltage in the mains, the adjust-
ment lever should be briefly slid to coarse while the mill is running and shortly afterwards again to the
desired more finer setting.
IMPORTANT: At first, always turn mill on before cereals can be filled in.
Flakes
The wheels for flaking have been adjusted for intermediate flake finesse. The distance between the wheels
can not be changed.
Tips for use of grain
The grain must be stored in a dry, well ventilated and cool location.
Grain is hygroscopic: i.e. water is absorbed in moist air. If the grain is too moist when being milled, this
might cause clogging of the millstones and blocking the flour sprout.
Ideally grain is stored in a cool and dry location in sacks or in wooden receptacles which are not sealed
airtight.
The "knife test" has proven ideally in order to check the grains' condition before milling them in order to
find out if they are dry enough. Dry grains shatter with a loud cracking noise when trying to press them on
a hard surface with a knife. Grain which is too wet can be pressed to flakes.
If the grain is too moist, place them for some days in a basket somewhere warm (on a heater for examp-
le). Alternatively you can put the grain into the oven for 60 min by 100°C.
