Safety notes for lithium-ion batteries
The mobile data collector WTT665.. is fitted with rechargeable lithium-ion batteries
Use of lithium-ion batteries is safe provided they are handled properly in accordan-
ce with the parameters specified by the manufacturer.
PROPER HANDLING
• Observe the specified ambient conditions for transport, storage and use of the device.
• Avoid mechanical impacts such as dropping or crushing.
• Mechanical damage such as opening, drilling through or dismantling the batteries is
prohibited.
• Avoid a short-circuit caused by e.g. foreign matter or water.
• Avoid thermal overload e.g. from constant exposure to sunlight or fire.
CHARGING of rechargeable lithium-ion batteries
• Only use the provided USB cable to charge the lithium-ion batteries (see operating
manual).
• Do not use any other lithium-ion batteries.
TRANSPORT
• As per ADR regulations, the device and included lithium-ion batteries may be carried by
the user during road transport without any further obligations.
• Special requirements on packaging and marking must be observed for all modes of
transport (air, road, sea, inland waterway transport). Applicable national and international
hazardous goods regulations must be observed.
• As a rule, lithium-ion batteries are subject to the requirements of hazardous goods
regulations!
DANGER caused by improper handling
• Incorrect handling or circumstances resulting in improper operation may cause leakage,
escape of battery material and resulting decomposition products. Such circumstances
may also promote strong associated reactions which pose a hazard to both the health
and the environment (emission of gases, fire).
• Technical defects or improper handling can result in an uncontrolled and accelerated
release of the chemically stored energy, which is usually released as thermal energy
and might induce a fire.
EMERGENCY INSTRUCTIONS
• In the event the ingredients of a lithium-ion battery come into contact with the skin or the
eyes, rinse the affected areas with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Immediate
medical attention is required.
• In the event of inhalation of gases or fumes always seek medical attention.
• Treat burns accordingly and immediately obtain medical attention.
• In case of smoke or gas emission leave the affected area immediately. If possible, vent
the area thoroughly and try not to put yourself at risk - hold your breath to avoid fume
and gas inhalation.
• If ingested, give plenty of water and rinse mouth. Seek medical advice immediately.
