6. GENERAL DESCRIPTION AND APPLICATIONS
The CE223X is a dual function planer designed especially
for use as a cutting planer or as a sanding planer by

simply and quickly changing the work tool. In its use as
a cutting planer the CE223X is equipped with a blade
holder to which a hard metal interchangeable helicoidal

blade is attached along with an adjustable lateral skid

A (Fig. 1) to give the depth of the groove or cut-out, a
buffer guide for jobs required to complete with reference
to the side and a safety interlock switch that prevents
the machine from starting accidentally.
Optionally, when using the CE223X as a cutting planer,
it can be equipped with a straight blade holder to which
dual-use, interchangeable hard metal blades are attached.
In its use as a sanding planer, the CE223X is a useful
tool for carpenters, fitters, restorers and shipbuilders.
It is specially designed for chamfering jobs and/or

smoothing: wood, varnished wood, laminated wood,

softwood and materials such as fibreglass and carbon
fibres strengthened with epoxy resins, vinyl and polyester.
To enhance the machine performance and working life
of the abrasive roller, we recommend the following:
- set the pass depth according to the hardness of the
material to be sanded, so that the machine may be moved
at a reasonable speed, thus preventing overheating due
to excessive loss of roller speed.
- change the abrasive roller once worn; a worn roller
does not sand effectively and causes the motor and the
roller itself to overheat.
The CE223X planer is equipped with a dust collector
connection which can be used for connection to our
AS182K, AS282K, ASM582T dust collectors or any in-
dustrial equivalent via the STANDARD DUST COLLECTOR
ATTACHMENT (ref. 6446073 3,5 m / ref.1746245 5 m).
For assembling the dust collector connection, remove
the chips outlet guide B (Fig. 1) using screws C and fit
the dust collector D connection in its place.
7. STARTING AND STOPPING THE MACHINE
The planer is equipped with an upwardly-engaging
safety button, which avoids the machine from being
started up accidentally.
To start up the machine, press down on the safety button
E while depressing the power button F (Fig. 2).
8. USE OF CE223X AS A CUTTING PLANER
When operated using the tools offered by Virutex, the
machine is suitable as a planer for wood, soft plastics
and other wood-like materials.
The user is responsible for any accidents and damage that
may arise from improper use. The CE223X planer comes
factory assembled with an helicoidal blade holder. This
blade holder has been specially designed to achieve a
better surface finish than can be obtained with a straight
blade holder. In this way, the surfaces worked on with
the helicoidal blade holder are perfectly finished, flat
and smooth, with no signs of roughness. The CE223X
