7 Setting into Operation

Important!
Prior to initial operation, check the power amplifier
for correct wiring before reconnecting the nega-
tive terminal of the car battery.
Hint
To keep the interference by the electric system of
the car as low as possible, the signal source
should have a rated output level of 1.5 V as a min-
imum.
1) For basic setting, set the controls GAIN (2, 4) to
the left stop (position MIN).
2) Completely switch on the car Hi-Fi system. The
POWER LED (3) will show red.
3) Adjust the signal source, e. g. the car radio, to
the maximum non-distorting volume.
4) Only turn up the controls GAIN to such an extent
that there will be no distortion. Use the left con-
trol REAR for the rear speakers; use the right
control FRONT for the front speakers.
The controls also allow to adjust the balance
between the front and rear speakers if there is
no balance control on the car radio.
5) If further power amplifiers are used in the car
Hi-Fi system, attenuate the levels which are too
high to match the volume of all power amplifiers
to each other.

7.1 Protection circuit

The power amplifier is equipped with a protection
circuit against overheating, overload and short cir-
cuits at the speaker outputs. The protection circuit
will also respond if there is a DC voltage at the
speaker outputs in case of a defect of the power
amplifier. If the protection circuit is activated, the
speaker outputs will be disconnected from the
power amplifier.
