1 Introduction

Thank you for choosing an AdvanSea product. We are convinced your S400 instrument
will provide you with many safe and happy years of navigation. This manual describes
how to install and operate the S400 AdvanSea masthead.

1.1. General presentation

The wind vane-gauge sensor is an instrument used to measure apparent wind speed
and direction. The AdvanSea sensor has been designed to withstand exterior
conditions, and provides highly accurate measurements, even in light winds.
It is compatible with the AdvanSea Wind and Wind-a displays.
It is equipped with a 25m cable including at one end the support to be attached to the
masthead and, at the other end, a watertight overmoulded 8-pin connector.

Designed to prevent self-interference by the sensor: the vane and the cups are
offset from the body of the indicator to ensure a measurement that is a close as
possible to reality.
