5. Cleaning and care
5.3 Descaling
1. If you use the appliance in areas with higher water hardness or when using the
appliance frequently, it is advised to descale the appliance more frequently. Descale
the appliance if you notice a higher concentration of limescale at the bottom of the
water tank, the spout (11) and/or the water filter (12).
2. If the appliance switches off, prior to the water reaching boiling point, it indicates
limescale.
3. Clean the appliance prior to each descaling (see chapter 5.1 Cleaning) and remove the
filter (12). Place the filter (12) in a sperate bowl.
4. Use descalers based on citric acid for water kettles or vinegar. Seek consultation from
your retailer.
5. If using vinegar, fill the appliance with a vinegar-water-mixture up to the "MAX"
marking, consisting of 2/3 water and 1/3 vinegar.
6. Allow the mixture to boil 2 to 3 times.
7. Fill a bowl with a heated vinegar-water-mixture and leave the filter (12) over night.
8. Afterwards pour away the mixture and rinse the water tank (10). Boil fresh water two
or three times (see chapter 4.4 Boiling water). Pour away the water from these boiling
processes.
9. If a standard descaler is used, follow the manufacturers instructions.
10. Caution! Do not pour descaler into enamelled sinks.
11. Clean the water filter using a soft brush under running water.
12. Prior to using the appliance again, replace the filter (12).
