c) Forced ventilation with heat exchanger in closed cabinets
• Application: If either the environment or the high power dissipation does not allow for
any natural convection.
• Function: A heat exchanger with fan suctions air into the cabinet and guides it to the
heat exchanger plates, which are cooled by a second fan that expels ambient air.
• Result: Depending on the version, a value that is 5 or 6 times the permissible power
dissipation can be reached as shown under a).
d) Forced ventilation in open cabinets
• Function: One or more fans generate an airflow that travels from the bottom cabinet
opening, past the devices and through and out of the top cabinet opening.
• Calculation of the required airflow:
Q = (3,1 * P

e) Air conditioning
• Application: If the indoor climate is hot, a cabinet temperature less than or equal to the
ambient temperature can be achieved.
• Function: Use of a specific cooling unit system or the existing climate system for
cabinet cooling.
