Operating instructions (see Figures 3 to 6, page 3)
Important: water must flow through the unit during operation, otherwise damage may
occur.
Before start operation, please take care about the safety instructions.
Only pumps with a maximum pressure of 10m (1 bar) may be connected.
Water temperature may not exceed 35°C.
Mount the VarioClean on a floor or wall (see Figure 3); Fasten the UV-C unit with the
here provided clamping brackets (13).
Make sure the electrical section of the UV unit cannot get flooded with water, after the
VarioClean is mounted.
The quartz glass tube (2) may become contaminated by the pond water and reduce
the UV-C light performance. Clean the quartz glass tube (2) regularly, depending on
how dirty the pond water is. Make sure that the VarioClean is mounted on an easy
accessible location.
The UV-C lamp (3) has an approximate working life of 7000 hours and must be
replaced each season. Make sure that the VarioClean is mounted on an easy
accessible location.
On the inlet and outlet of these UV-C, you can mount couplings with 3" inch inside
wire.
Connect to 2 of the 4 wire connection a hose nozzle (5) or the glue connection (7)
with the nut (6) and washer (4) needed as a connection for the inlet and outlet of the
water.
a. The hose nozzle (5) can be connected to various diameter hose, cut the hose
nozzle off for the diameter of the hose.
b. Into the coupling (7) a PVC pipe be glued with a diameter of 63mm.
c. For a PVC tube Ø 50mm or a screw connection 1 ½ " the reducer (16) can be
glued into the coupling (7) . Glue the side, you don't need, in the coupling (7).
You can chose 50mm glue or inner thread 1½" inch screw.
d. The hose nozzle 1½" female thread can be screwed in the reducer (16). Cut the
hose adaptor on the right diameter of hose.
In order to ensure that the UV-C unit is filled with water, it must be ensured that the
outflow side is on the upper side of the VarioClean. Therefore, the unit is always filled
with water, before the water flows through.
Connect the pump on the inlet of the VarioClean. Look for the correct pump at the
info at page 2.
On the outlet there can be connected a hose or pipe. This outlet hose can be
connected with a UV-C to a filter, a water stream or directly back to the pond.
Make sure all connections are watertight and properly connected.
Before the VarioClean switched on, check if all glands are tightened. Also the glands
of the electrical connection.
The VarioClean can be put into operation, first switch on the pump, so that water
flows through the VarioClean. After the pump is switched on, the UV-C can be
switched on too, by plugging in the plug.
Maintenance (see Figure 5, page 3)
Replace the UV-C lamp after 7000 hours or when the water starts turning green.
If the water remains green, even after the UV-C lamp has been replaced or working well, you
may need to clean the quartz glass. A dirty quartz glass reduces UV-C light intensity.
Unplug the UV-C first from the power outlet and after it the pump to turn them off.
WARNING! UV-C light is harmful to skin and eyes, always switch off the VarioClean
before replacing the UV-C lamp.
1. Note the safety precautions.
2. Let the VarioClean empty completely, so that no water in it. Loosen the nut (6) of
the connector on the bottom of the VarioClean, to allow the water flows out.
