The status indicator is displayed on the screen (TK).

The lower measurement value does not display
any temperature values from the external sensor
when the memory function is active (see chapter 10.2.6).
Fields of application
for the contact sensor type K:
For one, it is highly suited for determining the exact surface
temperature of objects free of any reflections which could
possibly distort the results.

The measurement value from
the external sensor can now
be seen on the lower functional
display value in active display
mode (SCAN), whereas the
central measuring display still
shows the IR temperature
measured at that particular
point in time.

In addition, the sensor is capable of "calibrating" the meas-
uring device of surface materials with an unknown degree
of emission. In order to do so, the degree of emission must
be adjusted until the IR temperature of the surface in ques-
tion is identical with the displayed contact temperature (TK).
Furthermore, combined measuring of the IR temperature
and contact temperature can be used to check the insula-
tion properties of diverse objects, e.g. heating or cooling
canal insulation. The contact sensor is placed directly un-
der the insulation while the IR measurement is carried out
simultaneously on the outside of the insulating material. The
lower the span between the two temperature values, the
worse the insulation properties of the tested object.
Besides the features already described, the contact sensor
can also be used for swift measurement of the ambient air
or the air temperature in ventilation canals.
12. Using the USB connection
The measuring device is equipped with a USB connection
which allows it to be connected to a PC. The USB cable that
is required in this case is included in the scope of delivery.
How to connect your measuring device
to your computer:
1. Open the flap on the side of the measuring device.
2. Connect the 5-pin miniature connecter plug
at the end of the USB cable included in
the scope of delivery to the USB port of
the measuring device.
3. Connect plug A of the included USB cable
to the USB port of your PC.
The connection between the measuring device
and your PC has now been established.
The PC now acts as a power supply and feeds the computer
with electricity via the USB port, thus conserving battery
power. The measuring device can even be operated with-
out having to insert any batteries at all when connected to
the computer via this means.
Activating and deactivating the USB function:
The measuring device is equipped with an active USB func-
tion for data transference and serial measurement record-
ing of the latest measurement values using recording soft-
ware that has previously been installed on the PC.
