FUNCTION TEST

Models without temperature monitoring module APPS
After installation of the noise reduction box, the instrument can be started up again. When the noise
reduction box is powered, the pump should be running and the fans must turn.
After 4 to 6 hours of operation the pump has reached its operating temperature. The thermometer on the
front now shows the inner temperature of the noise reduction box. The temperature should be at least 5°C
below the maximum ambient temperature of your vacuum pump. If the temperature is higher, please check
the placement of the pump inside the box and check if the air inlets and outlets aren't blocked in any way.
Models with temperature monitoring module APPS
After installation of the noise reduction box, the instrument can be started up again. Please check if the LED
on the back panel is flashing every five seconds and the fans are running. To get an acoustical confirmation,
please briefly push the button on the back panel. After 5 seconds at the latest a confirmation beep should
sound. Depending on the chosen OpMode the box beeps one, two or three times. If another beepcode is
audible, please refer to the APPS section in this manual. If the LED is not flashing and the fans are not
running, please check the connection to the mains.
After 4 to 6 hours of operation the pump has reached its operating temperature. After this time please assure
yourself again of the correct function of the box by checking that the LED flashes every 5 seconds and the
fans are running.

MAINTENANCE

To clean the surfaces please use a soft and moist tissue.
every day
(without APPS)
Check the temperature of the box. If a fan fails, it must be replaced immediately. If the temperature display
fails, please check the battery of the module and replace as necessary.
every day
(with APPS)
A malfunction is indicated by an optical and acoustical alert. If an alert is showing up, please refer to the
chapter APPS in this manual and follow the instructions accordingly to the alert code.
every month
Check the air intakes, fans and protection grids for any kind of dirt. Clean as necessary. To clean the grids,
the pump must be switched off and the box must be disconnected from the power source.
After 4 years of operation
We only use high quality fans with ball bearings. Even these lose efficiency with time. To guarantee
reliability, the fans should be exchanged after 4 years of continuous operation. After this time, the fans have
lost typically 1 5% of their original engine speed. An exchange back panel with new fans can be ordered from
Sonation to minimize the down time of your system.
Models with the APPS module automatically check the correct function of the fans. If the fans lost 20% of
their original fan speed an alert show up (only in OpMode 1 ).
