0 kHz
With the STR 622 TWIN you can receive the signals
from up to 4 satellites.
For this, you have to choose Hor/Ver, 0/22 kHz and
position a or b.
Meaning of options:
Hor.:
(= 18 V) for the reception of horizontal
signals.
Ver.:
(= 14 V) for the reception of vertical
signals.
a/b:
ToneBurst switching signal (also called
Mini DiSEqC) for satellite selection with an
appropriate switch (e.g. GRUNDIG SWITCH
UNI 1).
0 kHz:
switching signal for a multi-switch for
satellite selection
or
switching signal for a universal LNB for
switching to the low frequency range.
22 kHz: switching signal for a multi-switch for
satellite selection
or
switching signal for a universal LNB for
switching to the high frequency range.
The polarization and aerial selection applies both
for the reception unit A and B. For more information
see chapter "Finetuning the Reception Frequency
on Reception Unit B" on page 16.
Decoder settings

supply a switching voltage (e.g. Pre-
mière); the decoder then is automatical-
ly switched into the signal path.

Vorrang (priority)
As your receiver has 2 separate reception units but
only 1 decoder socket, the decoder socket has been
assigned at the factory to the reception unit A (set-
ting: "Decoder: Vorrang A").
1
In order to make a connected decoder also available
to the reception unit B, you must give priority to the
reception unit B for the programme positions con-
cerned.
For this, select for the programmes which can be
decoded by your decoder "Decoder: Vorrang B" in
the first line of this sub-menu.
As soon as the corresponding programme is selec-
ted on reception unit B, the decoder will decode this
programme.
If the decoder decodes only one programme (e.g.
Première), no restrictions exist for reception unit A.
The decoded signal can also be displayed with
reception unit A.
If the decoder can decode several programmes
(many English programmes operate with the
Videocrypt system, for example), "Decoder: Vor-
rang B" must be selected for each of these pro-
grammes.
!
If one of these programmes is selected on recep-
tion unit B, no other encoded programme can be
received with reception unit A.
!
After recording an encoded programme via recep-
tion unit B you should therefore always switch back
to a non encoded programme to make the decoder
available for reception unit A again.
Decoder norm selection
1
In the "Norm" menu line, you can switch the video
signal for the decoder between FBAS, linear base-
band, and PAL baseband (deemphasis). Certain
decoders require these signal settings for correct
operation.
Video/audio decoding
1
In the "Signal" menu line, you can select whether
only the video signal or the video and the audio
signal is to be decoded.

Contrast (video amplitude)
Kontrast
:
1 (37)
The satellites broadcast the signals with different
video amplitude. This results in a corresponding
contrast setting on the receiver.
The correct contrast levels are preset at the factory.
1
If necessary or in the case of new programming,
you can select 3 factory preset contrast levels with
the
x c
keys.
A fourth contrast level is provided for rare cases
where the levels 1 to 3 do not allow for an optimum
setting.
The value of the selected contrast level is indicated
between brackets.
The values of the levels 1 to 3 should only be
altered if the programme positions preset with
these levels require this. The contrast of these pro-
gramme positions then will be changed.
To change the value of a preset contrast level pro-
ceed as follows:
2
Select the "Kontrast" line in the main menu.
