Initial start-up and functions
1 Power Input
This input is used for connecting the SDMI25 to the power supply of the
vehicle and for remote out.
+: Connector for the +12 V power cable. Connect cable to the positive
terminal of the power source. The positive cable from the power source
should be provided with a main fuse at a distance of max. 30 cm from
the power source. The value of the fuse is calculated from the cross
section of the +12 V power cable. The recommended cross section is
min. 1 mm² / AWG 18 with a 5 Ampere fuse.
–: Connector for the ground cable. The ground cable (same gauge
as the +12 V wire) should be connected to a common ground refer-
ence point (this is located where the negative terminal of the battery
is grounded to the metal body of the vehicle), or to a prepared metal
location on the vehicle chassis, i.e. an area which has been cleaned of
all paint residues.
REM OUT: The remote output is used for turning on / off a signal proces-
sor (DSP) or amplifier with DSP that is connected to the Optical Out of
the SDMI25. Connect this remote output to the remote input of your DSP
product. This is essential to avoid any interfering signals.
Attention: Solely use the pluggable screw-terminal which is included
in delivery!
Important: Never use a different signal than the remote output of
the SDMI25 to activate the connected DSP product!
2 MOST Connector
This input is used to connect the SDMI25 to the MOST bus fibre-optic
system of the vehicle.
Note: Depending on the car model, the connection must be carried out
according to a special procedure. Further information can be found on
page 11 ff.
Attention: The protection of the photodiode in the SDMI25 MOST Con-
nector must be removed before the first installation (see page 21, fig. 4.1).
