7. Soldering
• When the soldering iron has reached the desired temperature, it is ready for use.
Note: when the iron is used for the first time it must be coated with solder (tinning). Re-tin
after use to prevent oxidation.
• Remove the soldering iron from its stand.
• Clean the tip by quickly wiping it on the wet sponge. This removes oxides and dirt
particles.
• Hold the tip against the joint, do not use excessive pressure. Make sure to touch both
track and component lead.
• Apply a small amount of solder to the joint (not to the iron!). It should flow smoothly and
form a volcano shape.
Note: Do not use solder containing corrosive flux or chlorine. Resinous flux is safe.
• Remove the iron while keeping the joint still. Allow the joint to cool down for a few
seconds.
• Inspect the joint. It must look shiny and shaped like a volcano. If not, reheat and add a
little more solder if necessary. Make sure both track and lead are fully heated.
• After last use, or when deemed necessary, clean and tin the soldering iron before placing
it back in the stand.
8. Replacing the soldering tip
• Switch the power off [G] and let the soldering iron cool down.
• Unscrew the bit holder nut and remove the bit holder [D2].
• Remove the soldering bit [D3] by gently sliding it over the ceramic element.
• Gently slide a new soldering bit (not included) over the ceramic element.
• Slide the bit holder [D2] back over the soldering bit and secure the nut tightly.
• The newly inserted bit may have different temperature characteristics than the old one.
To compensate temperature deviations, it is possible to calibrate the station.
o Determine the deviation factor by using a thermocouple (not included) to measure the
actual tip temperature.
1
o Switch the station on [G] and press and hold down preset temperature buttons [A]
number 1 and 2 simultaneously. Display 1 is shown after ±3s. Release the preset
buttons.
o Use preset button 2 to decrease or preset button 1 to increase the deviation (see
display 2). Value ranges from -50°C to +50°C, interval 1°C.
o Press preset button 3 to save the value (see display 3).
o Note that the setting is only saved after switching the station off.

9. Replacing the fuse

• The fuse is located on the bottom of the soldering station. Disconnect the station from the
mains and turn it upside down.
• Rotate the fuse holder [J] counter clockwise and pull it out of the station.
• Remove the fuse [K] from the fuse holder [J].
• Insert a new fuse with the same specifications (T630mA250V).
• Place the holder back in the station and turn clockwise to secure it.
• Place the station back upright and plug the connector into the mains.
