41. GROUND (GND) CONNECTION: Many Turntables have a GND-connection. It is preferable to connect
this signal ground to the GND-connector. If your turntable does not have a ground wire, you don't have
to use this connector.
42. USB CONNECTION 1: You can connect any PC through this USB connection. The PC/Mac will detect
your mixer as a sound card, normally no drivers are needed. Since this USB port is bidirectional you are
able to play music on your computer and mix this music with other sources like CD, phono, etc. At the
same time you can record your mix on your computer with the same USB connection! (caries the same
audio signal as the analog record output (37). See also the "special note for USB-connections" below.
43. LINE3/USB1-switch: switches the input of channel3 between line and USB1 input.
44. USB CONNECTION 2: You can connect any PC through this USB connection. The PC/Mac will detect
your mixer as a sound card, normally no drivers are needed. Please note that this USB port can only be
used to play music on your computer and mix this music with other sources like CD, phono, etc. See
also the "special note for USB-connections" below.
45. LINE4/USB2-switch: switches the input of channel4 between line and USB2 input.
46. Microphone input for MIC1 and MIC2: These are balanced ¼" Jack connectors without phantom
power provision, hence only suitable for dynamic microphones.
Important note: this MIC1-input on the rear-panel has priority to the front panel mic connector (1),
so if you intend to use the front panel mic socket (1), please do not plug anything into this rear-panel
socket.
47. Music Mute input: This is a terminal block input which allows to remotely mute all output signals (Stereo
Master, Zone A/B/C) by simply shortening the contacts.
Important note: during the installation you can choose to include or exclude the microphone signals
from this muting process, please see section "microphone routing" for more information.
48. Emergency input: This is an auto-sensing, balanced terminal block input which allows the connection to
an emergency evacuation system. Once an audio signal is present on this input, all output signals
(Stereo Master, Zone A/B/C) will be muted and the emergency message/signal from this input will
become audible instead.
Important note: during the installation you can choose to include or exclude the microphone signals
from this muting process, please see section "microphone routing" for more information.
49. Emergency volume control: This control sets the volume of the emergency input (48) sent to all
outputs: (24)/(25)/(26) and (30)/(31).
Microphone routing for muting/emergency:
Depending on the application, user habits and local safety
requirements, it can be useful to either enable or disable the local
microphones during an emergency case where an incoming
emergency signal into the emergency input (48) shuts down all
program signals. The advantage of disabling the microphones for this
case is that the local user can not interfere the legibility of the
emergency announcement by using his own microphone, the
disadvantage is that if for whatever reason the emergency
announcement does not stop, the local user can still give
emergency/evacuation guidance by means of the local microphone.
As a factory default, the microphones are not muted during an
incoming emergency message. To change this, a qualified installer or
technician must open the unit after disconnecting it from AC supply. Refer to the drawing to locate jumper
JP1 on the front panel PCB: set the jumper in the desired position.
Special note for the USB-connections:
Please note that these are NOT a host interfaces with audio decoder, so these interfaces
are not intended to directly connect hard disks or USB sticks with audio content. These
connectors are only designed to act as an external USB 1.1 soundcards, to be connected
to a PC. Apart from replaying audio from the PC, the USB1 interface is bidirectional and
also allows to record the signal present at the record output (37) digitally into the PC.
