MTS Power Extender
With the MTS Power Extender, you can provide
more power to your layout to run more trains. Toy
train safety regulations limit the MTS Central Station
to a maximum power output of 5 amps. That's not
enough if you are running a very large number of
trains or ccessories requiring electrical power
(for example, cars with interior lightning). With the
MTS Power Extender, you can power several track
sections with 5 amps each. The Power Extender
relays the commands of the Central Station to the
additional track section.
You can use ut to four MTS Power Extenders with
their associated transformers on one layout. This
allows you to power up to five track sections with up
to 5 amps each.
Safetyadvice
The LGB Multi-Train System is not a toy.
Never connect the MTS Power Extender directly to
a house current outlet.
Do not cover the vents. Do not insert anything into
the vents.
For safety and reliability, operate this product with
LGB transformators only.
Do not connect the phone-styled cables of MTS
components to a phone jack. The MTS component
would be destroyed immediately.
If a short circuit occurs on your layout, remove the
cause of the short circuit immediately.
Disconnect all cables before cleaning the housing.

Operation with 55080 MTS Reversing
Loop Module
Please note that all terminals of the 55080 MTS
Reversing Loop Module must be connected to the
same power supply. If you connect an MTS Power
Extender inside the reversing loop, you also must
connect the tracks immediately outside the loop
to the same Power Extender. Beyond this section,
you can electrically separate the tracks and use a
different power supply.
Each track section must be at least as long as
the "electrical" length of your trains, that is, the
distance from the first to the last power pickup,
including illuminated cars.
If the train triggers an emergency stop as it travels
from one section to the next, simply reverse polarity
of the connecting cable.

Connecting the MTS Power Extender
The MTS Power Extender can be used only with
the MTS Central Station. The MTS Power Extender
cannot be used with the 55000 first generation MTS
Central Station.
Separate your layout into two or more electrically
separate track sections. You can use the insulated
tracks sections 10152 (straight) or 11152 (curved).
Connect one track section to the MTS Central Stati-
on. Connect each additional track section to the red
and blue terminals of an MTS Power Extender. Make
sure the polarities are correct: For example, if the
red terminal from the Central Station is connected to
the inner rail, the ted terminal of the Power Extender
also has to be connected to the inner rail. Connect
the white and black terminals of the Power Extender
to an LGB transformer or power pack. We recom-
mend using the 50110/50111 AC Transformer, becau-
se its output is matched exactly to the requirements
of Central Station and Power Extender.
You can also use LGB transformers and power
packs with DC output to power the MTS Power
Extender, but the available current depends on the
output of the transformer (up to 5 amps). If you use
a power pack, set the throttle knob to the highest
speed setting. If the train triggers an emergency
stop when moving from one track section to the
