Operation

This device permits the data recording in two different ways:
•
CL mode (in Coges Key Readers);
•
IR mode (from IR port).
The BTDataKey is a transition support between the System and the control
device (ex. palmtop terminal, smartphone or any other device using the BLE
communication protocol and with a specific app able to interact with the BTDa-
taKey), therefore at each recording the consequent data migration towards this
latter is foreseen.
In the recording mode via CL, the transmission from the BTDataKey to the con-
trol device can occur in two different modes: via BLE or via IR. In the IR mode
the BTDataKey is only used for the transmission via BLE.

When the data are transferred via BLE, the BTDataKey performs the peripheral
role, the device sending the recording command, instead, performs the control
role.
The BTDataKey is equipped with two LEDs: the DL1 LED signals the operation
status of the key, the DL2 LED, instead, signals the battery recharge. All the sig-
nals concerning the battery recharge are described in the "Battery Recharge"
paragraph; those referred to the recording mode, instead, are reported in the
"Contactless Mode (CL)" and "IR Mode" paragraphs.
Note:
for the data recording with BTDataKey on the payment systems which
were born before 2003, the CL recording mode is recommended. The recording
with BTDataKey is not provided for Fast Charger Key Charger and in the Coin
Changers.
Contactless Mode (CL)
Before carrying out the recording in the CL mode it is necessary to configure in
the BTDataKey the Operator Code for the mutual recognition in the Systems. It
is set by means of the app BTDataKey (see para. "Change Operator Code") and
directly transmitted to the key via Bluetooth. Set in the payment system the
type of totals to be read by the BTDataKey (see the 10.1 Key Reading menu
