2 Safety Notes

This unit corresponds to the directive for electro-
magnetic compatibility 89/336/EEC and the low volt-
age directive 73/23/EEC.
The unit uses dangerous mains voltage
B
(230 V~). Therefore, the installation of the in-
sertion modules must only be made by author-
ized, skilled personnel. By improper handling
there is the danger of an electric shock.
The unit is designed for indoor use only. Protect it
against humidity and heat (admissible ambient tem-
perature range 0 – 40 °C).
Do not set the unit into operation, and immediately
disconnect the mains plug from the mains socket if:
1. there is visible damage to the unit or mains cable,
2. a defect might have occurred after a drop or
similar accident,
3. there are malfunctions.
The unit must in any case be repaired by authorized,
skilled personnel.
Never pull the mains plug out of the mains socket by
means of the mains cable.
For cleaning only use a dry, soft cloth, by no means
chemicals or water.
If the unit is used for purposes other than originally
intended, if it is not operated correctly or not repaired
properly, if the insertion is not installed by author-
ized, skilled personnel, there is no liability for any
possible damage.
If the unit is to be put out of operation definitively, it
must be disposed of in a local recycling plant.

Important for U. K. Customers!
The wires in this mains lead are coloured in accord-
ance with the following code:
green/yellow = earth
blue = neutral
brown = live
As the colours of the wires in the mains lead of this
appliance may not correspond with the coloured
markings identifying the terminals in your plug, pro-
ceed as follows:
1. The wire which is coloured green and yellow
must be connected to the terminal in the plug
which is marked with the letter E or by the earth
symbol , or coloured green or green and yel-
low.
2. The wire which is coloured blue must be con-
nected to the terminal which is marked with the
letter N or coloured black.
3. The wire which is coloured brown must be con-
nected to the terminal which is marked with the
letter L or coloured red.
Warning - This appliance must be earthed.
3 Applications
The unit has especially been designed to accept two of
the following insertions by MONACOR:
PA-1120CD CD player
PA-1120DM digital message memory for
6 announcements
PA-1120RCD tuner with CD player
PA-1200R tuner
PA-1200RT tuner with cassette player
PA-1200T cassette player
4 Setting-up
The unit is provided for being inserted into a rack
(482 mm/19"), but it can also be used as table top unit.
For the rack installation two rack spaces are necessary
(1 rack space = 44.5 mm).
5 Installation of an insertion
1) Prior to installation of the insertion disconnect the
mains plug of the PA-1200EX from the mains
socket.
2) Take off the housing cover of the PA-1200EX.
3) Screw off the corresponding cover panel (1 and / or
2) for the insertion compartment. Install the in-
sertion and tighten it with screws.
4) Inside the unit there are two loose three-pole
connection lines coming from the PCB JME-2A-A
which are assigned as follows:
Connection AS 1: line for the insertion in compart-
ment 1
Connection AS 2: line for the insertion in compart-
ment 2
Plug the three-pole line according to the insertion
compartment used into the pin socket of the inser-
tion (see operating instructions of the insertion).
