Problem
Volume is too weak or too loud.
Something is wrong with the
left/right balance of the sound.
Playback speed is wrong.
Hum is audible.
Skips occur.
Noise occurs.
The sound is distorted.
Feedback occurs.
Cause
The cartridge setting of the amplifier or phono equalizer is
incorrect.
The audio output select switch is set incorrectly.
The unit is tilted.
The speed setting is incorrect.
The RCA stereo cable is not connected correctly.
The head shell is not firmly secured to the tone arm.
The stylus pressure is not adjusted correctly.
The record is scratched or warped.
The record is dirty.
The record is statically charged.
The stylus is dirty.
The stylus is worn down.
The unit is placed in a location that is subject to vibration.
The unit is too close to the speakers.
The playback volume is too high.
Action
Set the cartridge setting of the amplifier or phono equalizer
correctly for the type of cartridge that you're using (MM or
MC).
Set the audio output select switch correctly for the device
that is connected.
Place the unit on a level location.
Set the 33/45 (speed) setting correctly. This unit does not
support playback of SP records (78 rpm).
Connect the RCA stereo cable correctly.
Use the lock nut to firmly secure the head shell to the tone
arm.
Set the counter weight markings to the stylus pressure
specified for the cartridge.
Do not used scratched or warped records.
Use a commercially available record cleaner to clean the
record.
Use an anti-static brush to remove the static charge.
Remove the dirt from the stylus.
Replace the stylus.
Place the unit in a level location that is not subject to
vibration.
Locate the unit farther away from the speakers.
Adjust the volume of the amplifier.
