About this manual
This installation and operating manual describes the safe and proper installation, commission-
ing, operation and decommissioning of the cable reels and extension cables.
This manual is a component part of the cable reels and extension cables.
► Keep this manual safe throughout the entire working life of the cable reels and extension
cables.
► Pass the manual on to any subsequent owner, operating company or user.
► Make the manual available to operating, maintenance and service personnel at all times.
► Carefully read and understand the manual before use and before starting all work.
Depending on the version of the cable reels and extension cables there may be some discrep-
ancies between the illustrations used in this manual. If device-specific information is required,
this will be indicated at the appropriate place.

Safety
The basic prerequisite for safe working is compliance with all the safety and handling instruc-
tions stated in this manual. Furthermore, the local accident prevention regulations are also
applicable.
2.1 Intended use
The cable reels and extension cables distribute electricity for external use on the construction
site. Any use beyond the intended use is considered misuse.
The cable reels and extension cables may be operated by persons familiar with the electro-
technical instructions and laypersons according to DIN EN 61316:1999 and DIN EN 61242.
Only cable reels and extension cables with a protection class corresponding to the protection
class demanded at the operation site may be used.
When using the cable reels and extension cables, the ambient conditions and chemical resis-
tance of the special rubber and the cable sheathing must be observed.
The manufacturer accepts no liability for damage or losses due to non-observance of the
instructions.
2.2 Requirements for technicians and operating companies
The operating company is responsible for the proper use and the safe use of cable reels and
extension cables.
If the cable reels and extension cables are operated by non-specialist persons, the technicians
and the operating company must ensure that the following requirements are met:
▪ Ensure that the manual is permanently retained and is available.
▪ Ensure that the non-specialist persons have read and understood the manual.
▪ Ensure that non-specialist persons have been trained in the operation of the cable reel.
▪ Ensure that the non-specialist persons use the cable reels and extension cables only for the
