When using the earphone, start with a low volume. Always approach
wires cautiously to avoid loud tones in the earphone. Adjust the volume
as necessary.
3.7. LED for illumination
To help better cable identification PT6 comes with a bright white LED
(Fig. 1/e) which replaces the need for a torch light in dark distribution
boxes. The white LED is automatically turned on.
4. Maintenance

4.1. Visual inspection

Examine the device and in particular the cables and plug connectors regu-
larly for signs of fractures, cracks and wear.
4.2. Cleaning
Remove any loose dust with a soft brush. Clean the outside with a suitable
clean cloth that has been slightly moistened with clear water, and rub the
parts dry afterwards. If heavily soiled, add some dishwashing liquid.
Do not use caustic cleaning agents, alcohol, aerosol spray and/or oil
containing substances for cleaning. These agents are often aggres-

Disconnect clips from any metallic connections before
performing any maintenance.
Both Tone and Probe require 4 AA batteries to operate (not included).
TG6 Tone Generator
Test the battery by moving the switch up to SHORT and touching the
leads together – there should be a solid green LED and warning tone if
the batteries are not nearing the end.
PT6 Probe
To check the battery status, turn on the PT6 probe and check the col-
our of the LED (Fig. 1/c): if this light is red, you are a weak battery.
