Attach cover
- Attach transmitter cover, fi rst.
- Confi rm that receiver sensitivity attenuation LED stays
OFF. Place cover in position, but do not secure. A
"beep" sound will occur after fi ve seconds. After this
signal, secure the receiver cover with screws.
Sensitivity allowance is automatically set when the
beep sound is initiated.
If the Beep switch is left accidentally ON, tone will
stop when receiver cover is attached.
- If there is a continuous "beep" sound, detach receiver
cover and re-adjust referring to Auto-gain lock function.

Operation check

(fi g. 14)
After installation, alignment and auto-gain set, test
operation by walk testing the beam. Two methods may
be used:
Alarm LED only. (fi g. 14A)
Alarm LED and sound check via Beep switch.
If the Beep switch is set to "ON", tone will stop when
cover is replaced, but be effective for an audible test of
operation for fi ve minutes after auto-gain is locked. (fi g.
14B)

Functions description

Four channel frequency selection (fi g. 15)
The beam pairs may be set at various frequency levels
to avoid crosstalk between units which are stacked, in-
line, or other confi gurations which have the potential of
spillover transmission from one beam to another. Set the
frequency level as illustrated. (fi g. 15)
MAKE SURE BOTH TRANSMITTER AND RECEIVER
OF PAIR ARE SET TO THE SAME CHANNEL! Paired
TX / RX will not set up unless set at the same channel.
- The use of a voltmeter for alignment is advised to
ensure the highest level of stability, in stacking or in-
line confi gurations.
- Upper and lower beams should be the same model
type in stacked confi gurations.
Beam power selection
This option allows fi eld selection of the appropriate
beam intensity relative to the application. For distances
signifi cantly less than the specifi ed protection distance,
the beam intensity should be reduced to eliminate
potential refl ection problems. For zones reaching
maximum protection distance, the beam level should be
set to the highest level.
For indoor applications where there is a greater
chance of refl ections, the setting should be LOW.

Auto-gain lock function (fi g. 16)
The auto-gain lock serves to standardize the
responsiveness and tolerance level of the units
regardless of varying distance in an installation.
- Fig. 16 shows these two sensors have exactly the
same tolerance and responsiveness levels even
though the distances are different.
A "beep" tone is issued from the receiver approximately
fi ve seconds after the cover is put into position. This tone
indicates the Auto-gain has been set. Refer to the chart
below.

This feature can be used to change the response time
of the beam to best fi t the application. Exercise caution
in using the 0.7 sec. setting. Fast moving human may
not be detected. A Walk test is recommended to get
appropriate setting.

Environmental module (fi g. 11)
The environmental signal is initiated if the beam
reception level is reduced by approx. 50% or more. The
module "watches" for a gradual degradation of the beam
reception which is indicative of extremely poor weather
conditions.

Alarm memory function
The alarm memory LED indicates which sensor was
triggered when two or more sensors are placed on a
zone.
An additional audible tone is optional. Reset can be
automatic or manual.

• Connect Power(+) to the Alarm memory terminal ⑪ to activate the function.
This circuit works as an external control switch.

Memory selector (TIMER ↔ REMOTE)
Timer mode
- The memory LED will light fi ve minutes after an alarm
signal and then continue to fl icker for 55 minutes
before returning to normal mode. If additional alarm
signal are triggered, the process repeats.
Remote mode
- Memory LED will light when the external control switch
is opened. The memory is reset manually by closing
the switch. The external control switch can be located
in any convenient location on premises.
Tone alarm with LED
- If an audible signal is desired in conjunction with the
memory LED, Beep switch should be set to ON.
When the alarm memory function is not used, leave
the receiver terminal ⑪ unconnected.
