Installation Manual for PB-IN-50HF / PB-IN-100HF / PB-IN-200HF
Thank you for purchasing our "intelligent" quad
photoelectric beam.
This unit will provide long and dependable service when
properly installed.
Please read the Instruction Manual carefully for correct
and effective use.
This sensor is designed to detect intrusion and
initiate an alarm; it is not a burglary-preventive
device.
TAKEX is not responsible for damage, injury or losses
caused by accident, theft, Acts of God (including
inductive surge by lightening), abuse, misuse, abnormal
usage, faulty installations or improper maintenance.
Product description
The TAKEX photoelectric beam sensor (PB-IN-50HF,
PB-IN-100HF and PB-IN-200HF) consists of an infrared
Transmitter and Receiver.
It's designed to be "AND" gated – an alarm is initiated
only when the four (quad) stacked beams are
simultaneously interrupted.
An alarm is not initiated when insects or fallen leaves
break up to three beams only.
In addition, four channels of beam frequency are
available to prevent cross-talk when multiple units are
stacked or multiple units are lined up.
Through the Programmed AGC function the sensitivity is
automatically increased in bad weather to contend with
fog, rain or frost.

Maximum wiring distance when two or more sets
are connected is the value above divided by the
number of sets.
The signal line can be wired to a distance of up to
3300' (1000 m) with AWG22 (dia. 0.65 mm)
telephone wire.
Installation height
In most cases, the beam should be installed at a height
of 27" to 35" (70 cm to 90 cm).
Take into consideration the beam spread of each
model type to avoid potential refl ection from ground
surface or nearby objects. (see table fi g.3)
Mounting
The units can be mounted easily on a pole or fl at
surface.
Remove the cover, screw is at base of cover. (fi g. 6E)
Loosen screws that fi x the sensor body to the mounting
plate, and slide the mounting plate downwards to
detach it. (fi g. 6B)
- Make rough adjustment.
Using the adjustment dial and adjustment screws,
the mirror can move horizontally (±90 degrees) and
vertically (±10 degrees) allowing the sensor to work in
all directions.
Wall mounting
Locating. (fi g. 4A)
Place the mounting plate against the wall as a template
for drilling and mark the screw holes. (Allow space
20 mm above the plate and 25 mm below the plate.
This will provide easy detachment of the cover after
installation.)
Drilling the wall. (fi g. 4B)
Wooden wall: 3 mm dia.
Concrete wall: Refer to specifi cation of the securing
plug used.

Insert mounting screw leaving 15 mm projecting.

Pull through cable.
Tighten screws.

Attach the cover.
Seal the cable hole to prevent insects from entering
unit. (fi g. 4C)
The unit can not be installed onto an outlet box.
But an outlet box can be used to provide cable space.

Pole mounting
Drill cable hole in pole. Pull through cable. (fi g. 5A)
- Unit mounts to a 1.66"-1.75" (38-45 mm) O.D. (outside
diameter) pole.
- Drill a 1/2" (13 mm) hole through pole where unit will
be mounted for wiring.
File all debris and sharp edges around hole to prevent
rough edges from damaging the cable.
A rubber grommet or bush may be used if desired.
Install sensor on pole. (fi g. 5B)
Attach U brackets to pole and secure to mounting plate
with screws.
Attach sensor body.
Pull through cable.
Connect terminals.
Attach covers. (Break knockouts on cover and pole
cover to adapt to pole diameter and confi guration.)
Pole mounting back to back (fi g. 5C)
Attach four U brackets to poles in two pairs, one on
top of the other, facing in opposite directions. (see
illustration)

- Look through a view fi nder on the upper transmitter
optical unit and move until receiver unit is visible.
- Repeat the procedure for the lower optical unit, and
then repeat on receiver.

Fine tuning (fi g. 13)
Initial beam alignment can be achieved by using Beep
switch.
- Attach the shading plates (stored on sides of both TX /
RX) to the lower optics of both TX and RX.
- Turn ON the receiver Beep switch.
- Adjust the optics with the adjustment screws until
highest tone is reached. (Note: There will be no sound
if the attenuation alignment tone LED is lit.)
- Reverse the procedure, i.e. attach shading plates to
upper optics of TX / RX and repeat adjustment.
- After adjustment, replace the shading plates in the
storage areas of TX / RX.
- Turn the Beep switch to OFF.

Beam alignment using voltmeter (fi g. 13)
Precise alignment can be accomplished by using a
voltmeter (10 V DC). Connect the leads from voltmeter in
monitor jacks of receiver. Readings for alignment are as
follows:
