Battery [Fig. I]
WARNING !
Injuries or material damage due to
improper handling of the battery.
¾ Never, under any circumstances,
try to open the battery.
¾ The battery must not be placed in
the charger if the battery casing is
cracked or damaged.
Note
The Li-Ion batteries intended for the
device are equipped with an NTC
temperature monitor that only allows
charging in a temperature range
between 5°C and 45°C. This ensures
a long battery service life.
Temperature delay
The temperature delay is automatically activated if
the battery becomes too hot or too cold.
Consequently charging is postponed until the
battery has reached a suitable temperature. The
charger then switches automatically to charging
operation. This operating feature ensures maximum
battery life.
Li-Ion devices are equipped with an electronic
protection system that protects the battery against
overloading, overheating and complete discharging.
The device switches off automatically if the electronic
protection is triggered. If this occurs, place the Li-Ion
battery in the charger until it is completely charged.
A cold battery is charged at approximately half the
speed of a warm battery. The battery is charged at
the slow rate throughout the charging process, which
does not increase even when the battery warms up.

Battery protection cap
A battery protection cap is supplied to cover the
contacts during storage, transport and disposal.
Battery state of charge indicator
The three LEDs of the battery state of charge indica-
tor [2] display the state of charge of the battery.
Press the button for the state of charge indi-
■
cator [2], to display the state of charge.
• One LED flashes: The battery must be
charged.
• No LED illuminates: The battery is defective
and must be replaced.
The LEDs illuminate sequentially during charging.
3 The battery is completely charged if the three
LEDs illuminate in a steady state.
Note
Approximately 5 minutes after com-
plete charging, the three LEDs go out
again.
