Description
TheSK1013-6is a battery-powered R Ftransmitterusedfor wireless audio
transmission in combination withanRFreceiver, i deallywiththe EK
1013-6.
Oneof the possible applications f or the SK1013-6is asan aidfor people
with hearing problemsin all kindsof schoolsand universities. Equipped with
a Sennheiser Mikroportsystemconsisting of the SK1013-6andthe
EK1013-6the userno Iongerneedsto strainto hearthe voiceof the
speaker, d istortedanddiminished by environmental soundsandthe
dlstancebetween listenerand podium;instead, t he wordsspokenare recei-
ved directly,eliminating the factorsof the acoustics of the roomandof
distance to the speaker. T hebestwayof explaining howthe systemworks
is withthe helpof an example:
Thespeaker(e.g.a teacher)wearsthe transmitter, w hichis equipped with
a microphone. Thelistener, a childor anadultwith hearing problems,
wearsthe EK1013-6receiver. D epending onthe levelof the hearing handi-
capthe outputof the receivercanbeconnected eitherto a pairof head-
phonesor to the listener's ownhearingaid.TheEK1013-6receives the sig-
nalandamplifies it sothat the listenercanhearit loudlyandclearly.Even
if the listeneris sittinginthe verybackrowof a schoolauditorium with
pooracoustics heor shecanhearthe teacheras clearlyas if hewere
standingnextto themandspeaking to them directly.
Hereis a little information aboutthe technology of this transmitter:
TheSK1013-6is a narrowbandtransmitterandis presetto a specific
frequencyin the rangebetween30 and45 MHz.Thetransmitter's8-pin
inputsocketcanbe usedto connectmicrophones, for instance the MKE
4012or MKE
2012
plug-inelectretmicrophones, andaudlosignals from
tapedecksor cassetterecorders can beinputvia the 3.5 mm phono
socket.Thebuilt-in"HiDyn" compander s ystemensures extremelyhigh
transmission quality.
TheSK1013-6 is poweredbythree batteries, w hich canbe eitherrechar-
geableor non-rechargeable. Two chargingcontactsarelocatedon the side
of the unitwhenrechargeable batteries are beingusedtheycanbe
recharged byconnecting theSZL
1011-2
charging u nitto these contacts.
Thestandardequipment p rovidedwiththe transmitterconsistsof a neck

Thetransmittercanbeoperatedeitherwithalkali-manganese dry batteries
(lECLR6) or withrechargeable N iCdbatteries(1.2V
/500
mAhsinter
accumulators). In the caseof dry batterieswestronglyadvisethat you use
the alkali-manganese type,asthe performance of the transmittercannotbe
guaranteed whenothertypesof dry batteries are used.Whenthe trans-
mitteris usedfrequently,however, i t is moreeconomical to userechar-
geable NiCd batteries. These batteries c anberecharged withtheSZL
1011-2
chargingunit.Forthis purpose the SK1013-6 isfitted withtwo contacts6
onthe sideof its housing whichmakeit possible to chargethe batteries
withoutremoving themfrom the unit.Depending onthe typesof batteries
usedthetransmittercanbe operated for differentlenghts of timebefore
changing or recharging the batteries:
Rechargeable N iCdbatteries: a pprox.10 hours
Alkali-manganese batteries: approx.30 hours
Please NotewhenUsingRechargeable Batteries:
1. Switchthe transmitteroff beforecharging.
2. Replace the transmitterin the chargingunitaftereachuse.Thismakes
surethat the batteriesarealwaysfully charged.
