2) Die Abdeckplatte des Akkufachs abnehmen.
3) Im Gerät das rote und das schwarze Kabel von
der Schraubklemme (9) lösen.
4) Die beiden Akkus so in das Akkufach legen, dass
die Anschlüsse nach oben und in Richtung Rück-
wand zeigen.
5) Die Akkus werden in Reihe geschaltet. Dazu das
schwarze Kabel an dem Minuspol des ersten
Akkus befestigen und anschließend dessen
Pluspol über das beiliegende Kabel mit dem
Minuspol des zweiten Akkus verbinden. Das rote
Kabel an dem Pluspol des zweiten Akkus befesti-
gen.
6) Die Abdeckplatte des Akkufachs wieder einset-
zen und den Gehäusedeckel wieder festschrau-
ben.
4.2 Rackeinbau
Für die Rackmontage werden 3 HE (3 Höheneinhei-
ten = 133 mm) benötigt. Damit das Rack nicht kopf-
lastig wird, muss die Notstromversorgung im unte-
ren Bereich des Racks eingeschoben werden. Für
eine sichere Befestigung reicht die Frontplatte allein
nicht aus. Zusätzlich müssen Seitenschienen oder
eine Bodenplatte das Gerät halten.
4.3 Externe Akkumulatoren anschließen
Um Akkus extern anzuschließen, werden zwei
Kabel benötigt, die nicht im Lieferumfang enthalten
sind. Der Querschnitt der Kabel muss min. 25 mm
betragen. Jeweils ein Kabelende mit einem Kabel-
schuh (Ringöffnung 6,4 mm) ausstatten.
Vorsicht!
Vor dem Anschließen der Akkus unbedingt den
Netzstecker der Notstromversorgung aus der
Steckdose ziehen.
Die Akkus werden in Reihe geschaltet. Dazu den
Minuspol des ersten Akkus über eines der angefer-
tigten Kabel mit dem Minus-Anschluss der Klemmlei-
ste EXTERNAL BATTERY (9) verbinden. Den Plus-

Supply
For the operation of the emergency power supply
either insert two 12 V rechargeable batteries (e. g.
MONACOR NPA-12/24) into the unit or connect two
external 12 V rechargeable batteries. If the emer-
gency power supply is installed into a rack, insert the
rechargeable batteries before the installation.
Do not put defective rechargeable batteries into
the household rubbish but take them to the special
waste disposal (e. g. collective container at your
electrical supply shop).
4.1 Inserting the rechargeable batteries
Caution! Prior to inserting the rechargeable bat-
teries disconnect in any case the mains plug of the
emergency power supply from the mains socket.
1) Unscrew the housing cover of the emergency
power supply.
2) Remove the cover plate of the rechargeable bat-
tery compartment.
3) Inside the unit remove the red and the black
cables from the screw terminal (9).
4) Place the two rechargeable batteries into the
rechargeable battery compartment in such a way
that the connections show upwards and in the
direction of the rear wall.
5) The rechargeable batteries are connected in
series. For this purpose fix the black cable to the
negative pole of the first rechargeable battery.
Then connect its positive pole via the supplied
cable to the negative pole of the second recharge-
able battery. Connect the red cable to the positive
pole of the second rechargeable battery.
6) Reposition the cover plate of the rechargeable
battery compartment and tightly screw the hous-
ing cover.
4.2 Rack installation
For rack mounting three rack spaces (= 133 mm) are
required. To prevent that the rack becomes top-
heavy, the emergency power supply must be insert-
pol des ersten Akkus über das beiliegende Kabel mit
dem Minuspol des zweiten Akkus verbinden. Den
Pluspol des zweiten Akkus über das zweite angefer-
tigte Kabel an den Plus-Anschluss der Klemmleiste
EXTERNAL BATTERY anschließen.
4.4 Verbraucher anschließen
Verbraucher, die bei Netzausfall über die Notstrom-
versorgung gespeist werden sollen, an die Klem-
men DC OUTPUTS (12) anschließen. Die Aus-
gänge 1 und 2 sind für eine maximale Belastung von
32 A und die Ausgänge 3, 4 und 5 für eine maximale
Belastung von 16 A ausgelegt.
4.5 Netzanschluss
Ein Netzausfall wird von der Notstromversorgung
PA-24ESP detektiert, daher muss sie an den glei-
chen 230-V-Stromkreis wie die Verbraucher ange-
schlossen werden. Das beiliegende Netzkabel an
die Netzbuchse (7) anschließen und in die entspre-
chende Steckdose (230 V~/50 Hz) stecken.
5 Bedienung
Die Notstromversorgung mit dem Netzschalter
POWER (3) einschalten. Die LED „AC" (4) leuchtet.
Das Gerät muss stets eingeschaltet bleiben, damit
die Akkus immer maximal geladen sind.
Die LEDs „BATTERY" (6) zeigen den Ladezu-
stand der Akkus an. Die LED „CHARGING" (5)

leuchtet, wenn die Akkus geladen werden. Bei
einem Netzausfall erlischt die LED „AC" und die
LED „DC" (4) leuchtet.
Der Signalsummer (2) ertönt bei einem Netzaus-
fall, bei einem Defekt in der Ladeschaltung oder
wenn die Ladung der Akkus unter 40 % gesunken
ist. Mit dem Schalter BUZZER (1) lässt sich der
Summer ausschalten.

4.3 Connecting external rechargeable batteries
To be able to connect rechargeable batteries exter-
nally, two cables are required which are not part of
the delivery. The minimum cross section of the
cables must be 25 mm

. Fit one cable end each with
a cable lug (ring opening 6.4 mm).
Caution! Prior to connecting the rechargeable bat-
teries disconnect the mains plug of the emergency
power supply from the mains socket in any case.
The rechargeable batteries are connected in series.
For this purpose connect the negative pole of the
first rechargeable battery via one of the fitted cables
to the negative connection of the screw terminal
EXTERNAL BATTERY (9). Connect the positive
pole of the first rechargeable battery via the supplied
cable to the negative pole of the second recharge-
able battery. Connect the positive pole of the second
rechargeable battery via the second fitted cable to
the positive connection of the screw terminal
EXTERNAL BATTERY.
4.4 Connecting consumers
Connect consumers, which are to be fed via the
emergency power supply in case of mains failure, to
the terminal DC OUTPUTS (12). The outputs 1 and
2 are rated for a maximum load of 32 A and the out-
puts 3, 4, and 5 for a maximum load of 16 A.
4.5 Mains connection
A mains failure is detected by the emergency power
supply PA-24ESP, therefore it must be connected to
the same 230 V power circuit as the consumers.
Connect the supplied mains cable to the mains jack
(7) and to the corresponding mains socket (230 V~/
50 Hz).

5 Operation
Switch on the emergency power supply with the
mains switch POWER (3). The LED "AC" (4) lights
up. The unit must always remain switched on so that
the rechargeable batteries are always charged at
maximum.
The LEDs "BATTERY" (6) show the charging state
of the rechargeable batteries. The LED "CHARGING"
(5) lights up if the rechargeable batteries are being
charged. In case of mains failure the LED "AC" will
extinguish and the LED "DC" (4) will light up.
The signal buzzer (2) sounds in case of a mains
failure, in case of a defect of the charging circuit, or
in case the charge of the rechargeable battery has
fallen below 40 %. The buzzer can be switched off
with the switch BUZZER (1).
