5.2 Performing measurements with the (optional) CAT IV/600 V separation filter

Working on live parts
Danger to life or risk of injury due to electric shock.
» The BAUR CAT IV/600 V separation filter must only be connected to live cables up to
CAT IV/600 V.
» Do not use the separation filter in damp environments or wet conditions.
» Comply with the safety instructions for working with live cables as per EN 50110 or the
applicable standards in your country.
» Ensure that, during connection, implementation and monitoring of the measurement,
protection is guaranteed for all system components, either by means of protection
devices, insulated cover material or by maintaining the necessary safety distances.
1. Connect the separation filter to the measurement connections on the top
of the device.
2. Connect the supplied crocodile clips (CAT IV/600 V )
to the separation filter connection cable (see sample picture).
3. Connect the connection cable directly to the live cable under test up to CAT
IV/600 V. (Connection examples: chapter "Connecting to the cable to be
tested" on page 22).
