For your safety
» Only use accessories and original spare parts recommended by BAUR. The use of spare parts, ac-
cessories and special fittings that are not tested and approved by BAUR could adversely affect the
safety, function and characteristics of the product.
» Never take apart the device and the (optional) separation filter. Inside the device and the sepa-
ration filter there are no components that could be serviced or repaired by the user. Exception:
Removal of the battery compartment cover when replacing the batteries.

2.4 Dangers when working with electric voltage

Although this device does not produce dangerous voltages, the electric circuits to which it is connec-
ted could present a danger in the form of an electric shock or the formation of electric arcs. Com-
missioning and operating the device are permitted only in compliance with the EN 50110 (EU/EFTA
countries) or the standards applicable in your country.
5 safety regulations
Comply with the following safety rules before working with and on electrical equipment:
» Disconnect the test object.
» Secure against re-connection.
» Verify absence of operating voltage.
» Earth and short all phases.
» Provide protection against adjacent live parts.
DANGER
High electrical voltage
Danger to life or risk of injury due to electric shock.
» Before commencing work, the operator must assess the risks for the specific working
conditions. Protective measures are based on the risk assessment and must be follo-
wed at the workplace.
» The TDR 500/TDR 510 without a CAT IV separation filter (optional) must only be used
on deenergised, currentless electric circuits. If the device is connected to a live cable, it
will be damaged and the operator endangered.
» Only touch the test spike and crocodile clips behind the guard rings.
Performing measurements on live low-voltage cables up to CAT IV/600 V (optional)
Measurements on live low-voltage cables require the BAUR separation filter. The separation filter
complies with measurement category CAT IV/600 V. This enables measurements without any interrup-
tion to the supply voltage by customers and the identification of illegal branching (electricity theft).
