The exclamation mark in a triangle indicates a particular risk during handling, operation and
control.
The „Hand" symbol indicates special tips and operating information.

cause injuries to the passengers in the event of an accident.
• The operation of this product does not relieve you of your duty of care to road traffic.
Please observe the road traffic regulations (StV0), (German road traffic regulations).
The operation at a speed of more than 3 km/h is at your own risk and not recommend-
ed. There is a high risk of accidents. The manufacturer assumes no liability for dam-
age arising from such a case.
• When installing and operating the system, always observe the applicable motor vehi-

or
- it has been subjected to considerable stress during transportation.
• Do not expose the product to any mechanical stress. Falls from a low height and any
pressure applied to the product can damage the device.
• Never pour fluids out above electrical devices. You run the risk of causing a fire or a
fatal electric shock.
• Maintenance, adjustment and repair works should only be performed by a qualified
specialist or a specialist service centre.
• Should you still have questions, which are not answered in these operating instruc-
tions, please contact our technical support or other specialists.
Battery notes
• Keep batteries out of the reach of children.
• Please pay attention to the correct polarity (plus/+ and minus/-) when inserting the battery.
• Do not leave batteries lying around in the open; there is a risk of them being swallowed by children or domes-
tic animals. If swallowed, consult a doctor immediately.
• Leaking or damaged batteries can lead to caustic burning of the skin. Therefore, use suitable protective
gloves.
• Make sure that the battery is neither short-circuited nor thrown into a fire. There is a risk of explosion!
• Do not recharge normal batteries. There is a risk of explosion! Only charge rechargeable batteries which are
intended for this purpose; use a suitable battery charger.
• If the auto compass is not to be used for a longer period (e.g. storage), remove the inserted battery. Old bat-
teries may leak and cause damage to the product, which will lead to the loss of the warranty/guarantee.
• For the environmentally friendly disposal of batteries and rechargeable batteries, please read the chapter

too. Avoid magnetic fields at the installation site (e.g. close to car speakers).
• Clean the rubber base of the mounting bracket.
• Unlock the mounting bracket by moving its lever upwards.
• Press the mounting bracket with the rubber base towards
the dashboard.
• Push the lever of the mounting bracket downward.

Calibrating the Compass
A calibration of the compass is necessary in one of the following cases:
- After initial start-up.
- After a battery change.
- If the compass has been moved to another vehicle.
- If you have changed the position of the compass in the vehicle.
- If „signal disturb" is displayed.
• Press the „RESET" key (15). All segments of the LC display flash for a short time. The °-display (e.g. 290°),
the sky direction display (e.g. NW; = North-West) and the CAL writing blink. Wait 5 seconds until the com-
pass has initialised.
• Slowly drive a 360° circle.
• Wait approx. 10 seconds.
• The calibration is now complete. The „numerical degree display" (5) (e.g. 290°) and the „sky direction dis-

matically dims the brightness
After battery changes, the compass must be re-calibrated.
The compass must not be installed in the airbag deployment area since this may cause
injuries to the passengers in the event of an accident.
If you are in doubt about where to install the device, consult your car dealer.
When choosing the installation location for this product, take into consideration the risk
of accident, which can arise from components being torn away in the event of an acci-
dent. Therefore, fasten the compass securely and in a location where it will not pose a
risk to the passengers.
To perform a calibration, choose a place with your vehicle, where you can make a 360°
rotation of your car. Start the motor of your car and switch on all electronic devices in
your vehicle (electric heating, radio, etc.).
Magnetic and electromagnetic fields of the vehicle, as well as strong magnetic influ-
ences from the outside, may impair the display and cause malfunctions.
In the event of a malfunction, „SIGNAL DISTURB" appears on the display.
If the failure persists, the compass automatically shuts down.
The more 360° rotations you make with your vehicle, the more accuracies the compass
gains.
