Intended Use
The product is intended for the cable-based networking of computers or other devices suitable
for the purpose. 8 twisted-pair connections (RJ45) are available.
An external wall plug transformer is used to supply the power.
Always observe the safety instructions and all other information included in these operating
instructions.

Safety Instructions
The warranty will be void in the event of damage caused by failure to observe
these safety instructions! Liability for any and all consequential damage is
excluded!
We do not accept liability for damage to property or personal injury caused
by improper handling or non-compliance with the safety instructions! The
warranty will be null and void in such cases.
• For safety and licensing (CE) reasons, unauthorised conversion and/or modification
of the product are not permitted.
• The product is only intended for use in dry, indoor locations. No part of the product
should be allowed to become moist or wet, never take hold of it if your hands are
wet!
There is a risk of a life-threatening electric shock!
• The product is not a toy. Keep devices that operate on the mains voltage out of the
reach of children! Therefore, be especially careful when children are around.
Use the product where it is out of the reach of children.
• Only use the gigabit switch using the enclosed wall plug transformer.
• Do not pull the wall plug transformer from the mains socket by pulling on the cable.
• If the wall plug transformer is damaged, do not touch it; there is danger to life from
electric shock!
Switch off the mains voltage to the mains socket to which the wall plug transformer
is connected (switch off at the corresponding circuit breaker or remove the safety
fuse).
You can then unplug the wall plug transformer from the mains socket. Dispose of
the damaged wall plug transformer in an environment-friendly way, do not use it
any more.
Replace it with a new wall power transformer with the same specifications.
• The design of the wall plug transformer complies with protection class II. Only use
a standard mains socket as the voltage source (see section „Technical Data").
• Do not leave packing materials unattended. They may become dangerous playthings
for children.
• Handle the product carefully, it can be damaged by impacts, blows or by falling
from a low height.

The gigabit switch can be installed with both of the mounting brackets on the left and right side
of the casing, for example, it can be screwed to a wall or a table.

Bear in mind, when selecting your installation position, easy access to the connections access

and placing the wall plug transformer so it is easy plug in.
Use suitable screws for mounting and when necessary use wall plugs. Mark the position for the
drill holes by using the openings in the mounting brackets.
Connection
• Connect the low voltage socket on the gigabit switch to the corresponding plug on the enclosed
wall plug transformer.
• Connect the wall plug transformer to a mains socket. The power LED of the gigabit switch must
now light up, indicating that the product is ready for use.
• Connect the gigabit switch's RJ45 network ports to the corresponding ports on your computer
(or with other devices with network connections, e.g,television, satellite receiver, games
consoles etc.).
• One LED per port is used as Link-/Act-LED. The LED is lit continually for a faultless network
connection or it flashes during data transfers.
Handling
Maintenance and Cleaning
The product does not require any maintenance and should never be disassembled for any reason.
Disconnect the product from the power supply before cleaning, unplug the wall plug transformer
from the mains socket (all network connections will cease to function).
Dust can easily be removed using a clean, soft brush and a vacuum cleaner.
Do not use aggressive cleaning agents as these can cause discolouration.
Do not press too strongly on the surface, to prevent scratch marks.
Pay attention, when screwing or drilling, so as to avoid damage to cables or pipes!
The gigabit switch supplied has automatic uplink recognition for each port, which
allows for particularly simple wiring to other switches. A cross-link cable is no longer
required, you can use a conventional 1:1 connected network cable.
• Only use in dry indoor locations. The product must not get damp or wet! There is
a risk of a life-threatening electric shock!
• Never use the product immediately after it has been taken from a cold room to a
warm one. The condensation that forms might destroy your unit. This might cause
a lethal electric shock!
Allow the product to reach room temperature, before connecting it to the power
supply and putting it in to use. This may take several hours.
• Any maintenance or repair work must only be carried out by authorised personnel.
• Check the product for damage before each use!
If you detect any damage, DO NOT connect the product to the mains supply!
It can be assumed that safe operation is no longer possible if:
- the product shows visible signs of damage,
- the product does not function or does not function properly (e.g. a burning smell)
- the product was stored under unfavourable conditions
• When setting up the product, make sure that the cables are neither kinked nor
pinched.
• If you are not use the product for a while (e.g, during storage), disconnect the wall
plug transformer from the mains socket (all the network connections will cease to
function!)
• Avoid the following unfavourable environmental conditions at the installation
location and during transportation:
- Damp or excess air humidity
- Extreme cold or heat
- Dust or flammable gases, fumes or solvents
- Strong vibrations
