Sensors for temperature/humidity
Item no. 64 61 94
1.
Intended use
The outdoor sensor transmits its data via radio at 433MHz bandwidth (range up to 100m in free field) to a separated weather
station. The product is operated via batteries. The outdoor sensor is suitable to be used in a protected outdoor area. However,
you should definitely avoid direct splashing, eg from a garden hose or another irrigation system. Do not use the outdoor sensor
in or under water! Do not cover the opening on the bottom of the outdoor sensor, since this is where the reading for air humidity
is carried out.
Unauthorised conversion and/or modification of the device are inadmissible because of safety and approval reasons (CE). Any
usage other than described above is not permitted and can damage the product and lead to associated risks such as short-circuit,
fire, electric shock, etc. Please read the operating instructions thoroughly and keep them for further reference.
2.
Safety instructions
We do not assume liability for resulting damages to property or personal injury if the product has been
abused in any way or damaged by improper use or failure to observe these operating instructions. The
warranty/ guarantee will then expire!
The icon with exclamation mark indicates important information in the operating instructions. Carefully
read the whole operating instructions before operating the device, otherwise there is risk of danger.
Personal safety
The contents of this product are not a toy, it contains fragile and swallow able glass parts, small parts and also batteries. Set
up all components in a way so that they are out of children's reach.
This product must not be operated in hospitals or medical institutions. Although the outdoor sensor emits only relatively weak
radio signals, these may lead to malfunction of life-supporting systems. The same may be the case in other areas.
Product safety
When used in conjunction with other devices, observe the operating instructions and safety notices of connected devices.
The product must not be subjected to heavy mechanical stress.
The product must not be exposed it to extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, intense vibration, or dampness.
Battery safety
Correct polarity must be observed while inserting the batteries.
Batteries should be removed from the device if it is not used for a long period of time to avoid damage through leaking.
Leaking or damaged batteries might cause acid burns when in contact with skin, therefore use suitable protective gloves
to handle corrupted batteries.
Batteries must be kept out of reach of children. Do not leave the battery lying around, as there is risk, that children or pets
swallow it.
All the batteries should be replaced at the same time. Mixing old and new batteries in the device can lead to battery leakage
and device damage.
Batteries must not be dismantled, short-circuited or thrown into fire. Never recharge non-rechargeable batteries. There is
a risk of explosion!
Miscellaneous
The product is intended for private use, it is not suitable for medical purposes or for informing the public.
The manufacturer or supplier accept no responsibility whatsoever for incorrect displays or the consequences which can
arise from such incorrect displays.
Servicing, adjustment or repair works must only be carried out by a specialist/ specialist workshop.
If any questions arise that are not answered in this operating instruction, contact our Technical Advisory Service or other
experts.

Operating elements
A. LC display to show temperature and air humidity, additionally, on the left, the presently set channel number is displayed
B. LED to display transmission process (flashes very briefly) or after battery insertion/ replacement display (flashes twice in
succession)
C. Opening for temperature/air pressure sensor
D. Suspension hole for wall mounting
E. Counter-sunk button for switching between °C and °F
F. Counter-sunk button for reset
G. Switch for selecting transmission channel (1, 2 or 3); setting necessary when using several outdoor sensors
H. Battery compartment lid (battery compartment for 2*AA size batteries)
4.
Getting started
1.
Open the battery compartment of the outdoor sensor by unscrewing the four screws on the back with a suitable screwdriver.
2.
Choose one of the three transmission channels (1,2 or 3) with the "CHANNEL" sliding switch, located above the battery
compartment.
If only one outdoor sensor is used, this setting is irrelevant. Later, the base station will only show lines for non-
existing sensors on the respective LC display field for outdoor temperature and outdoor air humidity.
It is imperative that you set the transmission channel before inserting the batteries. If not, the change to another
channel will not be recognised.
3.
Once a transmission channel is selected, insert two AA size batteries with correct polarity into the battery compartment (pay
attention to plus/+ and minus/-).
4.
If there no display appears, you can press the reset button, which is counter-sunk in the housing with, eg a toothpick.
5.
In order to change between the temperature display "°C" and "°F", briefly press the small "°C °F" button above the battery
compartment, eg with a toothpick.
6.
Check the correct position of the seal ring on the outside of the battery compartment (if necessary carefully push rubber
inside).
7.
Replace the battery compartment lid and screw it tight (don't use any force!).
Use high-quality alkaline batteries for a long and safe service life.
5.
Set Up & Installation
When drilling/tightening screws, be careful not to damage any power supply lines, gas or water pipes, as
there may be life-threatening danger involved!
Version 02/09
Fix the outdoor sensor in a protected area outdoors, in a place that is in the shade all day long. Otherwise the temperature reading
will be useless because of the solar radiation. The same is the case if there is rain or snow on the sensor for a longer period of
time (in this case the temperature sensor would no longer measure the air temperature). Due to the integrated display it makes
sense to choose an installation site where the display can be read, for example, through a window.
You should not place the individual devices (base station, outdoor sensor) directly next to each other. Otherwise
there may be reception problems due to radio interferences. Keep a distance of at least 1m between the individual
devices.
6.
Transmission
The outdoor sensor sends the readings for temperature and air humidity about ever 45 seconds to the base station
The transmission range of the radio signals between outdoor sensor and base station is up to 100m under optimum conditions.
This is often also called "free field range". However, this ideal arrangement (eg base station and outdoor sensor on a plain, even
meadow without trees, houses etc.) never exists in practice.
Since local conditions are different at every location site, a definite transmission range cannot be guaranteed.
If the batteries in the outdoor sensor are changed, it is possible that the base station may need a little time until
the outdoor temperature display or the outdoor air humidity display appears.
7.
Disposal
Dispose of waste electrical and electronic equipment
In order to preserve, protect and improve the quality of environment, protect human health and utilise natural
resources prudently and rationally, the user should return unserviceable product to relevant facilities in accordance
with statutory regulations.
The crossed-out wheeled bin indicates the product needs to be disposed separately and not as municipal waste.
Used batteries/ rechargeable batteries disposal
The user is legally obliged (battery regulation) to return used batteries and rechargeable batteries. Disposing
used batteries in the household waste is prohibited! Batteries/ rechargeable batteries containing hazardous
substances are marked with the crossed-out wheeled bin. The symbol indicates that the product is forbidden to
be disposed via the domestic refuse. The chemical symbols for the respective hazardous substances are Cd =
Cadmium, Hg = Mercury, Pb = Lead.
You can return used batteries/ rechargeable batteries free of charge to any collecting point of your local authority, our
stores or where batteries/ rechargeable batteries are sold.
Consequently you comply with your legal obligations and contribute to environmental protection!
