G Operating instructions
Passage detector
Item no. 1308121
Intended use
The product consists of a sensor unit and a signalling unit.
A PIR sensor is built into the sensor unit, which responds to temperature changes within the de-
tection range, e.g. when a person enters the detection range.
Thereupon, the signal unit sends a wireless signal to the signalling unit. This emits an audio signal
(2 different volume levels selectable); three LEDs also flash.
In this way, for example, a person's entry into the sales room of a business can be signalled.
The sensor and signalling units are operated with batteries. The signalling unit, however, can also
be operated with an external power supply (not included, available separately).
Always observe the safety instructions included in these operating instructions. Please read the
operating instructions carefully and keep them.
Any use other than the one described above could lead to damage to this product and present a
hazard of short circuits, fire, electric shock, etc.
The product complies with the applicable national and European requirements. All names of com-
panies and products are the trademarks of the respective owners. All rights reserved.

This symbol indicates specific risks associated with handling, operation or use.
The "arrow" symbol indicates special tips and operating information.
Safety instructions
T he warranty will be void in the event of damage caused by failure to observe these
safety instructions! We do not assume any liability for any resulting damage!
W e do not assume any liability for material and personal damage caused by improper
use or non-compliance with the safety instructions. In such cases, the warranty will
be null and void.
a) General
• Unauthorised conversion and/or modification of the product is not allowed for safety
and approval reasons (CE).
• The product is not a toy and does not belong in the hands of children! Children do
not realise the danger arising from the incorrect use of electrical devices. In addi-
tion, the product contains small parts and batteries. Therefore, be especially careful
when children are around!
• The loudspeaker in the signalling unit is very loud. This can, in some cases, lead to
hearing damage if the device is operated too close to the ear.
• Do not leave packaging material carelessly lying around, since it could become a
dangerous plaything for children.
• If you have any questions that are not answered in these operating instructions,
please contact our technical department or another specialist.
b) Installation, connection and operation
• The sensor unit and the signalling unit are intended for the installation and use in dry
indoor locations only; they must not get damp or wet.
• Do not use the product in rooms with adverse environmental conditions, where com-
bustible gases, vapours or dust are or may be present! There is a risk of explosion!
• The product must not be exposed to extreme temperatures, strong vibrations or
heavy mechanical stress.
Notes on batteries and rechargeable batteries
• Batteries/rechargeable batteries must be kept out of the reach of children.
• Do not leave batteries/rechargeable batteries lying around in the open. There is a risk of batte-
ries being swallowed by children or pets. If they are swallowed, consult a doctor immediately.
• Acid contact due to leaking or damaged single/rechargeable batteries can burn your skin,
therefore use suitable protective gloves.
• Liquids leaking from batteries/rechargeable batteries are very chemically aggressive. Objects
or surfaces coming into contact with these liquids could be considerably damaged. Thus, store
batteries/rechargeable batteries in a suitable location.
• Ensure that the batteries/rechargeable batteries are never short-circuited, taken apart or th-
rown into a fire. There is a risk of explosion!
• Do not recharge normal, non-rechargeable batteries. There is a risk of explosion! Charge only
rechargeable batteries that are intended for this purpose; use a suitable battery charger.
• Check that the polarity is correct when inserting the batteries/rechargeable batteries (pay at-
tention to plus/+ and minus/-).
• If the product is not to be used for a while (e.g. storage), remove the batteries/rechargeable
batteries. Old batteries/rechargeable batteries can leak and cause damages on the product;
loss of guarantee/warranty!
• Never mix standard batteries with rechargeable batteries, use either standard batteries or re-
chargeable batteries.
• Do not mix batteries/rechargeable batteries with different charge levels (e.g., full and half-full
batteries/rechargeable batteries).
• Always replace the complete set of batteries/rechargeable batteries.
• Check that the polarity is correct when inserting the batteries/rechargeable batteries (pay at-
tention to plus/+ and minus/-).
• If you wish to use rechargeable batteries, please note that, due to the lower output voltage, the
operating time will decrease in this case.
Therefore, we recommend that you use high-quality alkaline batteries to operate both the sen-
sor unit and the signalling unit in order to ensure long-lasting and reliable operation.
• For the environmentally friendly disposal of batteries and rechargeable batteries, please read
the chapter "Disposal".
Inserting/replacing the batteries
a) Sensor unit
• Open the battery compartment on the back by first unscrewing both fastening screws on the
battery compartment cover and then opening the cover.
• Connect a 9 V block battery with the battery clips.
• Insert the battery in the battery compartment; close the battery compartment again and screw
in the two screws of the battery compartment cover.
In the process, make sure that the battery clip cable is not pinched and thereby dam-
aged.
• The batteries need to be replaced when the red LED on the front lights up steadily.
b) Signalling unit
• Open the battery compartment on the back by first unscrewing the single fastening screw on the
battery compartment cover and then sliding the cover downward.
• Insert three batteries of type Baby/C with correct polarity (observe plus/+ and minus/-).
• Close the battery compartment again and screw in the screw of the battery compartment cover.
• The batteries in the signalling unit need to be replaced when a single red LED on the front lights
up steadily.
Operating the signalling unit with power supply
Instead of using batteries, the signalling unit can be operated using an external power supply
(not included, available separately). This must be able to supply an output voltage of 6 V/DC and a
current of at least 500 mA.
The power supply must have a round low-voltage plug with an exterior diameter of 5.5 mm and an
interior diameter of 2.1 mm; the outside contact must be the negative terminal (-) and the inside
contact the positive terminal (+).
Take the batteries out of the signalling unit if you operate it using a power supply.
Function of the PIR sensor in the sensor unit
The PIR sensor integrated in the sensor unit responds to temperature changes within the detection
range, e.g., if a person or an animal with a temperature difference from the background enters the
detection range.
The range for detecting motion is determined by several factors:
• The installation height of the sensor unit
• The temperature difference between the moving object and the background (ambient)
• The size of the object
• The distance of the object from the sensor unit
• The direction and speed of movement
• Ambient temperature
The detection range can be restricted by covering the curved diffusion panel of the sensor unit's
PIR sensor with an opaque cover such as a strip of black insulating tape.
