Inserting / replacing batteries
Please follow these instructions when inserting or replacing batteries:
1.
Remove the lid of the battery compartment on the back of the multifunctional unit.
2.
Insert two button cell batteries of type LR44 observing the correct polarity. The positive terminal must point
outwards.
3.
Close the battery compartment by putting the battery compartment lid back on.
6.
Operation
Connection
1.
Press from the back against the multifunctional unit and flap the sides upwards.
2.
Connect the USB cable's mini USB plug to the mini USB port at the back of the multifunctional unit.
3.
Connect the USB A plug with an available USB port on your computer. The red power LED lights up.
4.
The hub and the card reader now operate in the 'bus-powered mode'. The electric current of 500 mA
supplied via USB from the computer is shared by the 3 USB ports and the card reader.
This is sufficient for most mice, keyboards or USB sticks.
USB devices with a higher power consumption (e.g. external portable 2.5" USB hard disks) do
not function correctly due to their high power consumption (e.g. only a soft click is heard from
the hard disk enclosure, the hard disk is not recognised).
For devices with higher power consumption use the USB ports on your computer and not those
on the mouse pad, or connect an optional power supply unit to the back of the multifunctional
unit to supply the hub and the card reader with more power.
External USB hard disks, or other USB devices with their own power supply, work without any
problem on the USB ports of the mouse pad; there are no restrictions.
USB hub
Connect up to three USB devices to the 3-port USB hub at the back of the multifunctional unit.
The hub supports Plug & Play and hot-swapping (device drivers are automatically recognized and the
devices themselves can be removed while the OS is running).
Card reader
A memory card inserted in the card reader will be integrated in the same way as a conventional removable
media drive.
With Windows file manager you can now read the data on the memory card (or store data on the memory
card), in the same way as you use the hard disk or a USB stick. The green access LED on the card reader
flashes during write/read access.
If the mouse pad or the memory card are removed during a read/write access, the data on the
memory card can be damaged. It is possible that the memory card will have to be formatted again
afterwards. Remove the storage card from the card reader before disconnecting the mouse pad
from the computer.

When the calculation result is larger than the allowable calculation range, "E" will be displayed at the lower
right corner of the screen.
The calculator turns off automatically after approx. seven minutes of inactivity.
Calculation examples
2 + 3 - 1 = 4
17
2,4 x 6 ÷ 8 = 1,8
2 + 3 = 5
2 – 3 = -1
2 x 3 = 6
2 ÷ 4 = 0,5
2 + 3 + 3 = 8
6 – 2 – 2 = 2
2
= 8
3
20 + 5% = 21
20 – 5% = 19
20 x 5% = 1
20 ÷ 5% = 400
√4 = 2
Familiarity with ordinary Arabic numeral symbols is presumed. They are not defined specifically.
Thermometer
To switch from Celsius (ºC) to Fahrenheit (ºF) or vice versa, press the 'ºC/ºF' button to the left of the
temperature display once. Use a pointed object such as the tip of a pencil.
If the temperature is not displayed even with the battery in perfect order, press the 'RESET' button on the
back of the multifunctional unit. Use a longish, pointed object such as a needle.

Tips and notes
USB hub
The USB2.0 hub is USB1.1 compatible. This means that normal USB1.1 devices can be used with no
problems on the USB2.0 Hub. However, this will not speed up the USB1.1 devices!
Normally, USB operation is not possible in DOS or in the protected mode of Windows. Nevertheless,
depending on the computer or BIOS /Setup settings, it possible to use a USB keyboard and a USB mouse.
It is necessary, however, to connect them directly to the computer's USB interface, i.e. not to the USB
hub.
USB devices can be plugged in and unplugged while the PC is in use. This means that you do not have to
switch off your computer, when you want to plug in or unplug devices (with other interfaces this can cause
damage, e.g. if you connect or disconnect a PS/2 mouse during operation).
If data transfers are in progress on the USB port, e.g. if an external disk is inputting data to the computer,
and you unplug the USB plug, Windows might crash and other data may also be damaged!
For some USB2.0 devices (e.g. USB hard disk), Windows XP/Vista displays an icon with an arrow in the
menu bar. You can „separate" the USB device from the computer using this function, and thus instruct the
computer to close open files. Afterwards, the USB device can be unplugged safely.
USB card reader
Ensure that the read-only access (slide switch on the memory card; if available) is in the off position, when
deleting from, or writing to, SD/MS memory cards.
It is preferable to use USB 2.0 port for connecting the mouse pad. The maximum data signalling rate used
by USB1.1 is only 800kByte/s. With USB 2.0, more Mbyte/s are possible, depending on the speed of your
memory card! Therefore, for a faster transfer you should always connect the mouse pad to a USB2.0 port
(great time savings during data transfer to and from the memory card or to a USB2.0 device connected to
the USB hub).
Always remove the memory card from the card reader, before switching off the computer.
8.
Cleaning and maintenance
Clean the surface by wiping it with a soft cloth, if required. If it is very dirty, please use a lightly moistened cloth.
Never use abrasives or solvents for cleaning the device.
9.
Disposal
General
In order to preserve, protect and improve the quality of environment, protect human health and
utilise natural resources prudently and rationally, the user should return unserviceable product to
relevant facilities in accordance with statutory regulations.
The crossed-out wheeled bin indicates the product needs to be disposed separately and not as
municipal waste.
Batteries / rechargeable batteries
The user is legally obliged (battery regulation) to return used batteries and rechargeable batteries.
Disposing used batteries in the household waste is prohibited! Batteries/ rechargeable
batteries containing hazardous substances are marked with the crossed-out wheeled bin. The
symbol indicates that the product is forbidden to be disposed via the domestic refuse. The
chemical symbols for the respective hazardous substances are Cd = Cadmium, Hg = Mercury,
Pb = Lead.
You can return used batteries/ rechargeable batteries free of charge to any collecting point of your
local authority, our stores or where batteries/ rechargeable batteries are sold.
