DCF reception
The attempt at receiving the DCF time via the daily automatic synchronization is performed once
per day. One successful reception per day is sufficient to keep the deviation to less than one
second.
The DCF signal is emitted by a DCF transmitter located in
Mainflingen (near Frankfurt am Main) in Germany. Its range
is up to 1500 km and, under ideal reception conditions, even
up to 2000 km.
Among other things, the DCF signal includes the precise
time (theoretical deviation of 1 second in a million years!)
and the date.
Naturally, this also eliminates the hassle of manually setting
up summer and winter times.
If your delivered watch does not yet display the correct time,
the reception of the time signal has to be triggered manually.
Manual reception attempt
• Press button RESET (3) until the DCF symbol (8) starts flashing on the display.
• The better the DCF reception is, the more segments are shown above the DCF symbol (8). Posi-
tion the watch in a place so that as many segments as possible are displayed.
• The watch auto-adjusts to the current time after a successful reception of the time signal and
the DCF symbol (8) is permanently displayed.
The manual reception attempt can be aborted by pressing the buttons MODE (2),
RESET (3) or ST/STP (4).
The detection of the time signal and its evaluation can last a few minutes. Do not move
the watch during this time. Do not use any buttons!
You may face bad signal reception due to, for example, metallised insulated glass, rein-
forced concrete buildings, coated special wallpapers, proximity to electronic devices,
or in cellars.
If the DCF symbol in the display (8) goes out after the reception attempt, change the
reception location for the watch and restart the reception attempt, as described above.
